The Junior Jazz Band from Grey Junior School-Official, under the leadership of Etienne Mecloen , will be taking to the stage at the The Music Kitchen this Sunday afternoon, the 4th August, to raise funds for their Jazz Band Tour to Johannesburg.

Join the Grey Junior Jazz Band, led by Etienne Mecloen, for an afternoon of music at the Music Kitchen on August 4th at 14:30. The event will also feature special guest Caron Strydom, on vocals.

Featuring songs by Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Earth Wind and Fire and many more!

Tickets are just R150, and all proceeds will support the Jazz Band's upcoming tour to Johannesburg in September.

As a community theatre and non-profit organization, we rely on many things to keep our company going. Ticket sales, membership subscriptions, and donations, amongst others.

We are deeply grateful for this lovely cheque from the team at Tarryn Light Productions from their hugely successful run of the Absolutely Nuts -The Melodrama last year. Tarryn Light is an accomplished performer, consistent participant in various Impact Community Theatre productions, and long-time friend of our community.

Impact Community Theatre Company (formerly The PEG&S Society) is gearing up for the latest installment of Blast from the Past, a firm favourite with audiences who love this annual feast of foot tapping, sing along, classic hits. This year’s show has a great new line up of top local talent performing some of the greatest hits from the 50s to the 80s. There’s something for everyone in this show whether you were rocking around the clock when the songs came out or just love great music.

Blast from the Past is directed by local theatre stalwart Rose Cowpar, with award winning vocalist and recent Graduate, Nande Mzaidume, making her debut as Vocal Director and joining the cast. The show features some great local performers including the ever popular Melissa Leander, Matt Shaw, whose single Why Why Why is making waves on radio, and Roelene Primo, who won second place in the 2023 national Standard Bank Talent Competition. Joining them onstage are the ever versatile Danyke de Beer, with Xolisile Jack, Believing Lee, Elmarie Jonker, Liyabukwa France, Licebo Mose and Zane Seti. As always, Impact is showcasing some outstanding new talent with the likes of Payton van Wyk and NMU students Lelo Masuku and Zukhanye Ham!

Blast is jam packed with 2 hours of fantastic hits from artists including Chubby Checker, Bob Marley, ABBA, Heart, Elton John and Tracy Chapman, what a lineup! Audiences can Twist the night away, disco to Donna Summer, sing along to Dolly Parton and let their young hearts run free.

The show runs at the Savoy Theatre from 25th – 27th July 2024 at 19.30 nightly with a matinee at 14.00pm on Saturday 27th. Tickets are just R120 each or R100 for the matinee on Saturday. Patrons can choose either row or table seating. Bookings can be made online via Webtickets or at any PicknPay store. The Nelson Mandela University Department of Music and Performing Arts will be teaming up with the SMU Meadows School of the Arts and Impact Community Theatre Company to present the musical, "Ain't Misbehavin'" with music by Fats Waller.

Ain't Misbehavin' is the title of a song by Fats Waller, (1904-1943), an American pianist and organist who was a popular star in the jazz and swing eras. This musical r***e features music by several composers and lyricists and is a tribute to the music of Fats Waller.

Come and enjoy this fun-filled musical and experience the outstanding talent of both students and lecturers from Nelson Mandela University and SMU!
