The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, where every step counts!
Join the seas of pink in Nelson Mandela Bay, George, and East London, or virtually – as thousands celebrate every step at the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer presented by ISUZU Motors South Africa.
The 26th annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will take place on Saturday, October 26.
Enter on the Algoa FM website.
But, be quick. Only the first 7 500 paid entrants will receive a free iconic vibrant pink T-shirt.
All proceeds raised from the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will go to the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC) East London, St Bernard’s Hospice in East London, and St Francis Hospice in Nelson Mandela Bay.

South Africa - Organisers of the initiative have issued a final call for participants to join today’s activities.
The campaign will see the South African event industry join in a widespread protest action to highlight the lack of government support for the sector, which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Today, some of the country's favourite artists and performers, including Prime Circle, John Vlismas, Kyle Cassim, Refentse Morake, will perform live, whilst an original campaign anthem featuring a range of leading South African artist will be released.
“We are calling on all South Africans to heed the call of the technical production and live entertainment industry," the organisers said. "If you look out of your window today, 5 August, between 18:00 and 20:00 you will see the city lit up in red. We will be streaming live on all our digital platforms from 10am till 9pm.”

Winners of the NMB Business Event Awards

Friday evening saw the award ceremony for a new initiative aimed at increasing conference and tradeshow traffic to the city.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Event Awards (NMBBEA) were created and organised by a team of local businesswomen who are service providers to the event industry.

Caroline Morgan, Melissa Palmer and Tricia Wood hope that the publicity and social media buzz surrounding the awards will alert South African and international event organisers to the depth of services available in our Metro.
Palmer said “We often hear of out-of-town organisers bringing AV equipment, caterers and even greeters with them. That is expensive and unnecessary, but they simply aren’t aware that we have it all here.”
The awards started in August with a nomination phase, then submission of portfolios and an audited judging process by local industry experts.
Winners per category:
• Long Service – Michelle Brown
• Most Promising Newcomer – Stefan Ferreira
• Event Services – Scan Display
• Decor and Catering – Fat Cats Catering
• Event Organiser (large events) – Harwood Promotions
• Event Organiser (small events) – PR Junction
• Entertainment, Speaker, MC – Niqui Cloete-Barrass

The event also saw the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr Peter Myles for his decades of passionate service to the local tourism industry. The presentation by Shaun van Eck ended in a standing ovation for Mr Myles.
Mpho Pebane, representing the evening’s major sponsor Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, spoke of the importance of initiatives such as this for growing the local economy, and pledged support for seeing it flourish in future years.
