Automotive role players……

Dr Paulo Fernandes a Director at AIH, is part of the Panel Discussion on Automotive Exports which will focus not only on the country’s auto export successes but on the steps required to sustain and grow automotive exports, which is the lifeblood of the industry, and particularly the Eastern Cape which accounts for around 50% of the country’s auto exports.

The AIH has played a significant role in the mapping of opportunities for regional integration (the development of African auto supply chains) with vital research conducted in several African regions.

Dr Fernandes has held positions as the Development Manager and Advisory Lead – Africa in Mott MacDonald Africa, an international management and consulting engineering company (2013 to 2019), and as lead for economic infrastructure development in PDNA Consulting Engineers from 2008 to 2013. He was the Managing Director of the Automotive Industry Development Centre from 2000 till 2008, and concurrently held the position of the Chairman of the Board of the Supplier Park Development Company in Rosslyn, South Africa.

The auto panel includes a high calibre of contributors, including Mercedes Benz South Africa CEO, Andreas Brand.

Pioneer in the Medical cannabis industry globally Dr Shiksha Gallow, will contribute to a break-away session, which includes the MD of Medigrow, to discuss the opportunity and actions required in entrenching the Eastern Cape cannabis strategy and a related biofibre value-chain. As a Cannabis Clinician, Dr Gallow is the Medical Director of Holistic Integrative Healing Institute and the Principal Investigator for the first Medical Cannabis Study in South Africa. Dr Gallow holds a degree in Bio Medicine, qualified in Clinical Pathology Cum Laude. Additionally she has many academic qualifications in Medical Science, Masters in Public Health Medicine, MBA and 2 PHDs. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Cannabis Clinicians USA. Dr Gallow is an international author and has published 5 books. She is also an international speaker at many events and conferences such as Cannatech, Medical Research, SAMA, HPCSA, Asia International h**p forum and she has published her work in many peer reviewed journals. She is a shareholder of a SAHPRA cannabis facility. She has recently won the Ms Tourism Universe Global Humanity Ambassador and is using her title to empower women and promote Tourism in SA globally. Dr Gallow is an advisor to local and national government and part of the Strategic TAT team for medical cannabis. She is the winner of the Fabulous Women awards 2023, Healthcare category Woman of Stature Awards, Women of Wonder Awards and the most influential women 2022 and the winner of the global corporate governance award. She has been appointed on the EXCO for BRICS the South African chapter in the Healthcare sector.
