THE GREENJEANS SAGA

Greenjeans Organics was just a name behind an idea. An idea that believed we could all make a difference through the choices we make. It was then that my wife and I decided that if living with a more conscious way to life was a possibility then that was worth us pursuing. The idea was simple, to grow, learn and share a lifestyle that encourages sustainable agricultural values

from the food we grow to how we interact with our surrounding environment. We began our self sustaining journey in 2013 seeking to engage country living with open minds eager to learn. No joyous story however is without it's woes and we soon realized the true meaning of the commitment we had made. Like many before us we started from the ground up and with continuous support our business, Greenjeans Organics began to germinate. Through trial and error along with one hardship to the next our passion endured as we grew closer to the land with each passing year. Then one day we found our true roots lay within the propagation and sourcing of fruit trees. Through this practice we realized we could be tree contributing stewards by growing more trees while providing food cultivation at the same time. Hard work and dedication soon led to new beginnings and as we learnt so Greenjeans Organics grew. In 2018 we moved to a new, larger location situated on the foothills of a mountainous, fynbos landscape where more opportunities for expansion awaited. It was in 2019 that we took our first steps in rehabilitating a forgotten area of forgotten Protea field which led Greenjeans Organics into the world of the cut flower trade. Through faith, endless research and the determination to learn more about our unique, indigenous surroundings we continued our sustainable practices in the specialized area of agriculture on a small scale where we currently supply the local market with blooming success to date. We provide uniquely made bunches personalized according to season from flowers both cultivated and sustainably harvested on the farm and from the mountains following the BEK fynbos guide for sustainable cut flower harvesting. By embodying our vision of living closely with the land we have witnessed countless times the magical effects of biodiversity demonstrated by so many species. One species in particular that inspired Greenjeans Organics to branch our further in our efforts to preserve and conserve our environment was the humble Cape Honey Bee. During the course of our expansion to greener mountains in 2018 we began bee keeping pilot projects and by 2020 Greenjeans Organics needed no further convincing that producing quality, natural, raw honey tied in directly with our love fro sustainable agriculture. As our farming business continues to grow so do our hopes and dreams for the future. One thing is for certain though and that is that our passion and dedication toward our ongoing stewardship with our natural surroundings will always remain our top priority.

>>> CELEBRATING 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS!!

The year of 2013 will always have a significant place in my life as a farmer and small business owner. For it was during this year, many moons ago, my wife and I set out on a quest to turn a dream into a living, breathing reality. I chose the path of been a sustainable farmer with a difference, whose ultimate goal was to live off the land and give back to her in return as much as I could.

The original aim was to grow and supply organic, naturally grown produce to the public from vegetable seedlings, herbaceous plants to a variety of fruit trees from which everyone could benefit. Well, years down the line and through countless hills and obstacles that needed climbing we continued down this path of sustainable farming.

It hasn’t been easy, and it certainly has had more challenges than I care to mention but as I write this now 10 years later, I can truly say I would never have chosen any other route than the one that I have travelled. Greenjeans Organics has come a long way since 2013 and through continued support from local businesses, friends, family and my beloved wife, I am proud to see how I and my business have grown into the name it has become.

Today we are involved in the Protea and fynbos cut flower trade, run our private plant and fruit tree nursery and are passionate beekeepers and producers of natural, raw honey.

Thank you to all our Greenjeans supporters and followers out there, I am truly humbled and grateful. Here’s to many more years of supplying produce grown, picked and harvested with the same care and passion we started with all those years ago- in alliance with nature!

Early mornings come rain or shine, late afternoons into dimming night, winds a gust under scorching sun, walking fields and mountains far. It takes a lot of effort to create the perfect boutique of proteas and fynbos. Energy and precision a plenty goes into finding, harvesting, cleaning and assembling the best quality stems that make up a Greenjeans Organics bunch of flowers. It's good job we love what we do...
