The meaning of Excelsior : onward and upward to greater glory

Excelsior has been in the Van Heerden family for around 70 + years.

Pinnie van Heerden worked at the railways but always had a love for farming so Excelsior was bought as his second property to increase his workable land. As a side-line he was also buying and selling livestock. Marrying Rina van Heerden they had 8 children of which the youngest still farms Excelsior.
