we bid farewell to winter warmers, we made this delicious affordable Osso Bucco with Creamy Polenta and Gremolata.
Osso Bucco is a hearty dish made from the shank, with is the lower leg of the cow. As this comes from a working muscle it contains a high amount of connective tissues hence braising is a great method for it. The shin is a low cost cut of beef that's great for slow cooking , healthy protein portion and contains around 10% fat.

Polenta ( Italian Pap and can be made sweet or savoury)
Gremolata (Adds a pop of bright and citrusy flavour)

Ingredients bought:
1,3 kg beef shin (6 Pieces) R 79,99
1kg Polenta (Used 1 cup) R 29.99
2 Carrots
2 Sticks of celery
1 big onion
1/2 cup of oil
1/2 cup of red Wine
2 Cubes of Beef Stock
1 tsp Salt
50g Tomato paste
1 Can peeled Tomatoes
1tsp Dry Thyme
1tsp Origanum
41litre of Water
handful of Parsley
2 Cloves of Garlic
Zest of 1 lemon
A dollop of Olive oil (Optional)

After cooking we had six big pieces of Meat and Creamy Polenta to feed 3 Adults.
