As a child, one of my fondest memories is cozying up with my Mom on the couch looking at my parents wedding album. With all of the technology we have today, collecting photos and putting them into an album is a lost art and it’s sort of sad. We snap pictures, they go on a disc or get stored on the computer’s hard drive, never to be seen again. Sure, it’s convenient, but what about the experience? What about passing down those memories to children and grandchildren?

If you’re soon-to-be married or even if you’ve been married for awhile and have digital wedding photos stored somewhere, I urge you to purchase a wedding album, and over the next 5 days we will give you 5 reasons why...

Reason 4: There’s nothing quite like seeing your photos in print

Hands up if you own a Kindle, but still buy paper books… I know I do. I also know plenty of people who love to make Spotify playlists but also buy the occasional vinyl album now and again. Being able to look at a real, physical, analogue version of something has huge cultural capital. There’s a certain feel to it that you just don’t get when looking at something on a laptop screen.

There’s something truly amazing about seeing your photos in print. Just look at the surge in popularity of the Fuji Instax – everybody loves a polaroid, even if we have phones on our very expensive cameras! Books have been around since about 200AD (depending on how you count it), and they’ve never gone out of fashion.

Younger generations will hold it as a keepsake and adore seeing Mom and Dad in their early years. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing what kind of hairstyle and outfits family chose back in the day?

Reason 2: An Album is a Permanent Record

DVDs, USBs – they’re all so easy to lose. DVDs and USBs are great as backups, but having a wedding album is permanent. If your house should catch on fire or your computer goes bonkers, you know you still have the wedding album with all the precious photos inside. Don’t take a risk by keeping the images on your hard drive or on discs that could potentially break or get misplaced. Anything can happen!
