𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄: The Alexandria Dune Field is the largest and least degraded coastal dune field in the southern hemisphere, with a surface area of about 15 800ha, stretching over 50km in length from Cannonville at the mouth of the Sundays River all the way to Cape Padrone, along the Woody Cape coastline and beyond.

Colchester and Cannonville are tourist villages on the Sundays River, just off the N2, an easy 20 minute drive from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Colchester is an ideal stopover enroute to the Addo Elephant Park. Situated on the edge of the coastal section of the Addo Elephant Park and 3km from the southern gate and Matyholweni camp, it is not surprising to find that this part of the country is largely unspoilt.

Swimming is safe in the river. It is considered the cleanest river ecologically in the Eastern Cape. Open to the sea, the sea water pushes up about 20 km and the river is navigable 17 km.

Sundays River is well-maintained due to the fact that it falls under the National Park.

The Golden Torch cactus (Echinopsis spachiana), sometimes also called Queen of the Night, blooms beautifully on the farm at in the during the summer months. They normally flower at night and are still beautiful during the mornings.
