M Y H A P P Y P L A C E

There are very few things in my life as satisfying to me as to work with my hands. The little things. Things that maybe does not matter to others, but it matters to me. This is me. Me in my happy place. Working to create something from almost nothing. Just being.

Behind that machineI, I feel at home.

Strange to think that a machine can make you feel comfortable. It just does. Maybe it's the smell of the coffee, maybe the soothing, familiar sound or maybe it's just the fact that all my senses are tuned in at once. I don't know. I think that is also fine. No need for answers.

W H A T A N I G H T (part 1)

This was one special treat to the end of the year.

Preparing all the food was a huge challenge...working through, around, before and after loadshedding to get the best results for each item. We did it to the best of our ability and it paid off!

From speculated thunderstorms, getting a tent ready for the rain to not even needing it at all, it surely gave the evening a special, cosy feel.

This was one very special delivery. Not only was this person one of my mentors, but also a fellow colleague and head of department way back when I was still teaching.

Mr. Tinus van Wyk - I grew up knowing him as one of my dads friends and had the privilege of working with him as well. He was not only a senior to me, but also a someone you can rely on no matter what. With his special way of leading, always stating the obvious as well as the positives.

Thank you for choosing us to accompany and compliment your last evening as educator. It was really special to be part of such a special evening to celebrate YOU. You will definitely be remembered by many. Mr. van Wyk, "Oom Tinus", Tinus. You will be missed and I hope you enjoy your life even more after many years of hard work. You deserve every moment!!
