Breakfast Cupcakes

We made cheese and bacon muffins in this weeks cooking class. We topped them up with some cottage cheese that we flavoured with bacon and chives, making it the perfect breakfast cupcake.

Breakfast Hamburgers

The little chefs made their own beef patties for their breakfast hamburgers. We also learned how to bake the perfect sunny side up egg.

Crispy deepfried pancakes filled with milk tart. We took pancakes to the next level this week.

First we made our milk tart filling. Each young chef then made their own pancake mix and prepared their pancakes. We filled them with our milk tart filling and then crumbed them with egg and biscuits. Next we deepfried each pancake and covered it in cinnamon sugar.

Delicious!!

We made out own beef meatballs baked in tomato sauce served on spaghetti.

We started this class outside in the herb garden. We learned about the different herbs and we got to smell each one. We each choose what herbs we would like to add to our meatballs.

Cooking is not just about cooking the ingredients. It's important to educate our little ones where the ingredients come from.

'Life is better with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies'

Hierdie week het ons wiskunde in die kookklas ingebring. Ons het weer geleer hoe om die skaal te gebruik en ook bietjie geleer van breuke. Ons maatkoppies het ons lekker daarmee gehelp.

Ons het ook geleer dat nie alle koekies uitgerol word nie. Hierdie koekies moes ons in 'n balletjie rol om te bak. In die oond het hy dan na sy regte vorm toe verander.

Chicken Mayo Phyllo pastry class.

For our first class of term 2 each student made their own Chicken mayo filling. They then had the opportunity to make any shape using phyllo pastry. Some made spring rolls, samosas, pockets and pies.

One of our students even made her own pastries at home to enter at the Youth Show competition in Clainwilliam. We are so proud!

These cupcakes are delicious! We had so much fun making our own cupcakes from scratch and then decorating them.

In die kids cooking class, this week, we made macaroni & cheese spring rolls using phyllo pastry.

We made our own white sauce with bacon and then mixed in our grated cheese and cooked macaroni. We then learned about phyllo pastry and how to work with it, making making different shaped pastries filled with our macaroni & cheese.

We made our own strawberry jam to be served with the scones we made in this weeks kids cooking class.

We learned why it is important to measure our baking ingredients correctly. We also learned about the rubbing in method again by using our fingertips to rub the butter into the flour mixture.

First kids cooking class for 2024 done and dusted. This week we made sausage rolls and cheese puffs. Each young chef prepared their own fillings and then made their very own savoury snacks using puff pastry.

Wat is kersfees sonder 'n lekker plaatkoek.

Sjokolade koek kinder kookklas.

As kind het ons geweet, die sjokolade plaatkoek wat by sportsdae verkoop was, was tannie Gollie se beroemde sjokolade plaatkoek. Hy was 'gecopy' in almal se resepte boeke. Hierdie week deel ek 'n stukkie van my kinderdae herhinderinge in die kookklas.

Die maats het elkeen hulle eie sjokolade koek gebak. Ons tema vir versier was reënboog. Elkeen kon sy eie kreatiewe kant gebruik. Kyk net hoe mooi gebruik hulle die spuitsak op hulle eie.

'Chicken strips, mash potatoes and mushroom sauce' kinder kookklas.

Kinder kookklas het hierdie week geleer om hulle eie 'chicken strips' te maak asook hulle eie mash en mushroom sous. Hulle wou graag leer om met juf se groot messe te sny. En hulle het puik gedoen!

Hierdie week het ons vir die 3de keer witsous gemaak. Ek is baie trots dat hulle elke stap op hulle eie al kan onthou.

Eclair (choux pastry) kinder kookklas.

Leerders het hierdie week geoefen om eclairs te maak. Ons moes daai armspiere lekker oefen om ons eier een vir een deeglik in te roer.

Lekker fyn werk om ons room in ons choux poffertjies in te spuit en te bedek met sjokolade.

Om choux pastry te maak is nie 'n maklike taak nie. Ek is so trots op elke leerder in hierdie week se klas! Julle mag maar.
