Artscape New Voices 2017: Call For Applications Deadline Extended
Artscape is delighted to announce a public call for applications for all theatre and performing arts makers who would be interested in the staging of new work for New Voices 2017.
Individual artists, scriptwriters, theatre makers, directors and storytellers of multiple creative expression are invited to submit their scripts, concepts, synopses or invite us to a showcase or present the work as part of Artscape Showcase, which will be organised for all those interested to showcase their work. Please note that this call for applications is for performing arts genres and selected work will be staged during the New Voices Season in 2017.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- South African and African content by South Africans/Africans;
- Only Western Cape-based individuals may submit applications;
- Only new work that has not yet been performed anywhere, may be submitted;
- All submitted work may only have up to FOUR performers;
- Emerging scriptwriters/directors, theatre makers, or other forms of creative expressions/
or interdisciplinary performances are invited to submit;
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO:
• A theatrical story of historical or national significance to South Africa/Africa;
• Work that aims to reclaim and restore marginalised aesthetics, content and language in arts and performances;
• Stories that deal with issues of culture, heritage, identity and language in a diverse society;
• Work that aims to reclaim and restore dignity and confidence to individual and communities that have been disregarded and under-represent
ed.
• You can only submit 1 or two proposals.
Call for applications opens : 1st of November 2016
Closing date : 4th March 2017
