Kleinevalleij parkrun - Event number 1
2nd November 2024 Eye Witness Report
We were blown away! 😃
The first parkrun at the new course in Wellington was epic! An incredible 521 participants (and many 4-legged furry companions) joined to run, walk, jog and take in the beautiful scenery at the Festa Restaurant venue!
Thank you to all who came along to celebrate event #1 with us and bring so many awesome vibes - we couldn’t have imagined a better turn out! It was great to see so many new faces, along with some familiar ones from previous events in Wellington. Everyone brought their A-game and made the morning a success. The carnival/festival colourful attire added that extra sparkle ✨
- We welcomed 44 individuals doing their first ever parkrun - well done!
- The first finishers came in at under 19 minutes🏃💨
- We had almost 60 individuals who have done over 250 parkruns🤯
- And one who made this parkrun their 513th, with now 292 locations! Wow! Congrats Jabulani.🎊
We celebrated some milestones & birthdays whilst welcoming various groups and such;
- some new 50 club members❤️
- Anton Nel (our parkrun ambassador) achieved 100 parkruns🖤, great one to mark the occasion! Congratulations Anton.
- Lina Nel started her birthday celebrations by joining the parkrun, good choice!
- Paarl vitality group were well represented, along with a Langebaan parkrun team.
- Some came all the way from Fishhoek and the West Coast and there were also a number of visitors from up north. Thanks guys!
- And the regional ambassador, Nickie Sale, came to enjoy the grand opening.
Thanks to our incredible volunteers, 28 in total that assisted on the day (and some extra hands who also helped - huge thanks!), who made it all possible. Thank you to our hosts, FESTA Restaurant, Kleinevalleij Estate, and thank you to the parkrunners turning out in epic numbers! 🥳
