Breaking News.
So here we are, Nic and Leigh from Oui Chef, the creators of The Boss Burger & Taishon - and those incredibly popular wings!
As many of our loyal customers already know, when we opened Oui Chef, it was a result of a self-imposed brief, to create a side-line business to help top-up the loss of our overseas design and marketing works due to the pandemic and travel bans. Not to mention to honour and fulfil our commitment to the lease on the commercial property which we took out 7 years ago.
We learnt to build a kitchen, we learnt to cook, we created menus and fed an amazing crowd of loyal customers. We wanted to be the best we could and with 4.9 out of 5* on Just Eat, and 5* on Google, we’ve got to say we are quite proud of our achievements as a couple of amateurs!
3 years in and after a recent flood many may be might be tempted to say ‘well they didn’t last very long’. OR as an example typical un-supporting comment in the evening Echo ‘ Looks like its steak or bust for this place’ The truth is, prior to the flood we had been up for sale.
Due to the flood, we cancelled the sale and recommended to the buyer another local restaurant on the market (which is going through as we speak), and instead, knuckled down and got to carrying out the reparations and updating a new menu ourselves having now lost our buyer and still to this day with no news back from the insurance company.
Sometimes if you have a dream, it takes Bottle…..
4 weeks ago and after 15 months silently in the making, we finally signed off our Korean and Peking Sauces for mass production ready to go into retail with the first batch lined up for an early January production date - needless to say we have a lot to do beforehand!
As a result, we decided it was time to put the kitchen back up for sale, to enable us to focus on the next chapter of our careers and building Taishon as a household brand. Not to say without a heavy heart, we are able announce today that our buyers took over the premises this afternoon.
We have thoroughly enjoyed this part of our journey and learning, and Leigh and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers from Hamlet Court Road and surrounding areas, who over the years have time and time again supported us.
I would also like to shout out a massive credit and thank you to Andy and Nick and the team at The Mile and A Third, for an amazing partnership and support. We will miss working together, but I am sure we will find the opportunity to share some time on the other side of hospitality! So for now dear friends, it is over and out for Oui Chef.
The Boss Burger and Taishon as a takeout may be gone, but please keep your eyes posted and follow and on Instagram as lots of exciting things are coming for 2025. Most importantly, when the new buyers open their concept, please give them the support that you gave us – keep it real and keep it local!
Thank You
Nic and Leigh
