This photo is so meaningful on so many levels to me. That morning, that place, why we were there, being up in the sky with my uncle and facing my fear of heights..it represents all the good I was blessed with in 2022. Like all years, it had its highs and lows but the highs were much needed on the personal front! So let's make this the 'personal' post. Work stuff in another! In Jan, I was convinced I was in for the worst year yet. My heart was broken. I had to move AGAIN. But after heading back to my hometown, I did a lotta soul-searching, a lotta praying, a lotta sobbing on the phone with my friends, lol. Then one night, I met a lady who spoke such FAITH and PEACE into my life. I drove home that night feeling like I was genuinely going to be ok. THE NEXT DAY I met the man of my actual dreams. NO LIE. He is peace, joy, love, honesty, fun and kindness personified. And lol of all lols, he legit used to model! Me with a model? Who is even more beautiful on the inside? Can you believe it, guys? Lol! That's a whole 'nutha post...nay a thesis! Healthwise...still struggling with some medical hangups but docs were visited and scans were done and things have improved! RELIEF! Still a long road ahead but I hope I'm on the path, lol. MY 40th! What a belter! I have never felt so loved in all my life. My friends, fam and BF went above and beyond to make it such a special one. Forever grateful to my gang. Working with my uncle and getting to travel to Africa to shoot, film and write for projects that are so close to my heart...beyond a blessing. I met the most amazing humans and bonus, got to see a lion close-up, lol. Clearly still say 'lol' a lot! So where are we on the photography front? Stay tuned for the next riveting installment 😂 And as always, thank you for being here...even though I don't get nearly as much time as I used to, to chat with you here. Hello, friends! I realised I had shared this on Insta but not on my poor little FB page!

Every now and then I receive a message along the lines of, 'You're a lot quieter these days, what's up?' Well...! For those that don't know, in December 2020, I began working for an amazing non-profit called Droplets in a Stream At the time, SA had just entered into a third lockdown and I was experiencing another wave of cancellations. This meant giving up my home and so much that I had worked for.

When my uncle called to tell me there was an opportunity for someone of my background, I LEPT at it! There is a lot more depth and detail to the story but it really felt like God's hand upon my life.

I knew I couldn't just switch off my business and I didn't want to. I still love shooting for my couples and am committed to honouring all my bookings for this year. I did, however, have to start dedicating more of my time to this new area of work. So I'm sorry I'm a little slower on the photography side of things!

But shew, this new work has been a soul-soothing, heart-wrenching, humbling and rewarding experience. DIAS supports the most vulnerable children and their families in four communities in Africa. These are parts of the world that many have overlooked or forgotten. I've been involved in the content creation for donors, the website update, social media development and other projects I'm super passionate about. In 2023, I hope to work full time for DIAS but the pandemic has taught me that you can never plan too far ahead!

For now, my days are split between shooting, editing and working for DIAS. We have a page here > Droplets in a Stream and we recently started an Instagram account which you can follow over here if you like :)

So yeah, I just wanted to share a little update. I'm still shooting and tapping away at the comp! Last year, I essentially shot two years' worth of weddings in one year and it was INTENSE, lol. I'm still posting on Instagram and I do plan to share all those incredible events here too but I don't want to burn myself out post Corona-coaster.

Behind the scenes, I have experienced so much change and I'm still trying to process it all - while I carve out a path ahead. Thank you for being here - and thank you for taking the time to read this! x

I hope you are keeping well and have enjoyed sharing your online gallery with friends and family!

In 2021, I shot a record amount of events as Covid restrictions began to lift - hooray for being able to gather together again! This does however mean that I need to create more space online for new galleries to be uploaded.

All galleries that were published before 2021 will be removed on 22 Jan 2022.

You may download individual images, your folder of favourites or you can download the full gallery in one swoop! You'll find a download icon above the gallery and above individual images once you've clicked on them.

The images will download directly to a zipped folder on your computer and you’re done. Easy peasey!

Once you have downloaded your photos, please take the time to back up your images just in case anything happens to your computer. I personally think the more back ups, the merrier, so feel free to put them on additional USBs and hard drives.

If you would like your gallery to be re-uploaded after the 22nd, you can pop me an email to request this. The cost for this will be R400 a year. You can also purchase a crystal USB in a keepsake box for R450.

Merry merry my friends! I hope you're having a wonderfully relaxing time with your specials. 'Tis the season to reflect and I've been thinking about all the amazing families and couples who blessed me with work, support, adventures and magical moments that were an honour to capture. Thank you so much! It wasn't long ago that I wished to be a photographer and you all made that dream come true. I pray that 2022 will open the doors to all your heart's desires. I am taking some time off to be with family before my last wedding of the year on NYE! Looking forward to catching up soon x

Reneva and Donavan were able to tie the knot juuuust before another lockdown kicked in and I was so relieved and happy for them! Yuthi wore her her mama's wedding dress to her second Mehndi! Then she danced under the stars with her sister and besties. It was like the Mehndi version of Mama Mia, haha.

What a wedding week this was! I knew I was in for a treat when Yuthi and Vee told me they were dancers. And it all began on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Oh, how I remember this day. Yuthi had her Mehndi done with a few of her relatives and I was due to drive from PMB towards the North Coast and there were road works for DAYS! I think I had left at one and got there just before 4 - lol! Fortunately, I made it just as the sun was getting her golden glow on! Vee popped in towards the end and they had a spontaneous dance party which was absolutely epic! The next day, Yuthi took the glam to a whole 'nutha level when her besties joined her for another night of Mehndi and wow, more light, more dancing and more magic. I'll show you day two tomoz! Mwah! x

My friends, I thought I should pop in and share why I've been a bit quiet of late. Other than the looting, pandemic, fire and theft - there's been a lot going on. Before I get into this ramble, I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has messaged me or posted a kind comment in recent months. I am forever telling my family and friends that I lucked out BIG TIME with you guys! The most loyal supporters of all time and my gratitude knows no bounds! I wish I had more time in the day to chat to you all. I'm sorry its taken me so long to check in.

Ok guys - so firstly, if we have a shoot coming up or you've banked time with me because we couldn't shoot during lockdown - that is still a-go! I have all our emails safe and sound and we will make those memories happen for ya. I'm not going anywhere so please don't worry :) Your name is on an excel sheet beside me on my desk!

Secondly and somewhat sadly, I decided to close new wedding and lifestyle bookings a little while ago. This was a decision I wrestled with for a long while. I know some folks have managed to bob and weave throughout the pandemic but I was caught in the cross-hairs and well, I'll spare you the details. I still have 50 odd shoots on the books so there's A LOT of magic to make and I can't wait! THAT SAID, the past two years have proven that anything can happen and who knows, maybe I'll open everything again in a hot minute. Who knows 🤣

Speaking of - pandemic-dependent - I may open weekday lifestyle shoots in the PMB/Hilton areas outside of wedding season next year so yay for that!

Thirdly? Fourthly? In December last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to get involved with a non-profit that has become incredibly close to my heart. Once I wrap up all the big shoots, I will dedicate more time to writing stories and taking pictures to raise awareness of the challenges our neighbours are experiencing in Africa. I've dipped my toe into this line of work before and as heartbreaking as it can, I've always wanted to do more - and I knew the right time would become clear one day. I'll of course be sharing those shoots here too. There are SO many people who deserve to have their story told and I want to help where I can, even in the smallest way. The world has gone mad and we need each other more than ever.

Fifthly - how long is this post? A sanitised hug for you if you've made it this far!

Sixthly - lol - someone close to me is about to launch something extremely fun and amazing which I know you guys are gonna LOVE! I'll be shooting for that too and it'll enable me to keep in touch with my wedding industry friends. Stay tuned for that!

I know many of you have also had to adapt your lives in the blink of an eye. Some of you have shared the most heartbreaking stories of loss and grief with me. Loved ones have left us. Businesses have closed. Malls were burnt down. A lot of this year has straight-up sucked but every time I shoot for you guys, I am reminded that love always wins! Where there is love, there is hope and I pray that 2022 will bring peace and healing.

But now, I have two more shoots to edit and another to share here :) Sending you all so much love x

Thanks to Covid, these two had been living in limbo so long, a Sharknado wouldn't have stopped them getting married! They also happen to be MADLY in love, MADLY adorable and now related to me in a mad kind of way. My beloved cuzzies, thank you for the light and love you've poured into my life. Steph, you are joy personified and Darryn, you are her rock. All that rain on your wedding day was surely a sign of the blessings that are bound to chase you down.

Well long time, no see, friends! What can I say? Life threw me off the horse. Then I got back on. Repeat x 10. Eventually the horse ran away and now I'm riding a rainbow unicorn! My little world remains shrouded in uncertainty but I've never been more grateful for my Matty, his little one and all of my loved ones 🌈 Their good health and safety remains my one true wish and I pray the same for you and yours. I also want to say a heartfelt thank you to those of you who reached out when I went off the grid. My head and heart needed time. I never stopped shooting. I certainly never stopped editing, lol. And I'm excited for the season ahead. You've shown me grace, kindness and compassion since this Coronacoaster began and it's meant so much. Thank you, friends. This too shall pass. 💕

Guys!!! Thank you for all your messages. I'm so sorry I haven't been able to read them yet or reply. I've only had a few minutes of juice on my phone a day. My boyfriend's boss is kindly letting me to reply to some work emails at his office today so I'm just quickly checking in to update you. The electricians popped in today so hopefully we will have lights and water by tomorrow. It's been cold baths in the mop bucket so far, lol. If we can't get hooked up by tomorrow, I will find a temp spot to work from. I just wanted to assure you - the second I can, I will be back in the mix, editing up a storm, delivering galleries, dropping off albums (all of them have been delivered to me) and sending off those precious USBs. Gosh guys, it's been a tumultuous year with some traumatic twists and turns so thank you for sticking by me! Your faithful support has carried me through this craziness. I will reply to the most urgent mails now and catch up with the rest of you shortly. Big loves, you guys. We are so grateful and happy to be alive!

*There was a fire* Shortly after I posted this morning, a fire broke out. The short story: no loss of life and we got the pets out in time. We have no water and no electricity and have to figure out living arrangements. The main house a few metres from us completely burnt to the ground. Thank you to the good Samaritans who got me out and helped to save the animals I will be back in touch as soon as I can X forgot to add I got all the hard drives out after my buns

*PSA, guys!* My phone was nicked on Friday and the power has been out in our hood until a minute ago. I would say I've been put back into the dark ages but it's also freezing so more like I've been sent back to the Ice Age. Lol - and sob! I believe Cyril spoke last night so I'm going to listen to that now and do my best to go get a new phone. Starting the insurance process now. Sorry, guys. It's been a YEAR AND A HALF. I'll be on mail asap and will let you guys know when I'm fully back in comms. ARRRHH.
