THE SOUTH AFRICAN WINE INDUSTRY IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
I have asked you before, and now the industry that is entrenched in my soul is on its knees; I am BEGGING you. Help SAVE THE SOUTH AFRICAN WINE INDUSTRY.
Tonight our wonderful president Cyril announced the alcohol ban will continue until at least 15th February. There is no point complaining. Our government isn’t listening, they don’t care about all the families depending on the sale of alcohol. They don’t care about my family, about my colleagues families, about the families of all those I love and respect in this amazing industry, or those who they employ. The retailers, the hospitality industry... so many are dependent on wine sales.
It is not the wine industry’s fault that South Africa has a drinking problem, they are not the cause and they should not be penalized.
The government has made a lazy decision to blanket ban alcohol rather than look at how to rectify the issues at hand.
Sorry I’m ranting. How can you help?
- if in South Africa, support your favourite farms; buy as much as you can online. The farms & the wine merchants need cash flow for their on going expenses.
To the rest of the world, we are relying on your support. Please drink your local supplier dry of South African wine so they can order more, and the wineries can sell some of their stock on hand and make space for the 2021 harvest that is about to start.
To everyone else please share this post far and wide. Tell your friends. Help us please. The South African wine industry needs you.
Any recommendations needed please ask. Happy to assist in any way I can.
