Trees. Trees.
Of the many tree posts we make, what's new about this tree post? Well, if you look at the pictures very closely, you will see that the trees have different stages of fruiting ON ONE TREE, AT THE SAME TIME. You have buds, flowers, small, medium size and large ripening fruit ALL ON ONE TREE, AT THE SAME TIME.
Now, isn't that quite something?

The plan, as always, has been to harvest both from ON the trees, and from UNDER the trees. It's called the art of maximising on whatever resources you can lay your hands off - an art informed by solid agricultural science around companion planting, crop rotations, crop water requirements and irrigation principles.
You can also do this during the rainy season where no irrigation systems exist.

We survived winter. Yaay!!!
This is the worst we got of winter frost, in the last week of July. The garden got a light dusting of the 'freeze' resulting in brown tips on the lawn (why we were saying no mowing in winter, to give the frost something to nibble on), lots of brown leaves, etc.
The great leaf fall continues through August
From this point on though, it can only get greener. We are now planting in any open spaces, getting ready for the growth spurt that warm weather brings.

Grandmothers are voices of the past and role models of the present. Grandmothers open the doors to the future.
The Paswanis know very much how blessed they are to have Gogo Paswani, and so take every opportunity to let her know she is loved and appreciated. Current settings: in Niasha Gardens where you experience summer in winter...
Gardening notes: Our duranta is going all deciduous on us, especially in the shady areas. It will get dense again once the sun goes stronger.
Our lawns have largely held up under the low temperatures - we are now bracing ourselves for potential early morning frosts in late July by not mowing it too often.
Did we mention, plenty of sunbasking spots for a lovely day out in the garden? We are know it's brown all around elsewhere, but we caught summer in a bottle. We are looking forward to your visit!
