Pride vs Confidence
We are living in a time where these words are often misused with some of them being used interchangeably; Pride, Confidence, Self-esteem, Humility, Arrogance. Because of the easy access to technology, I will not dwell on defining these terms for you in this post. I will give a few analogies to drive my point home.
1. Sugar remains sweet and consumed worldwide in large quantities regardless of sugar diabetes being a significant cause of death. Whether one takes sugar or not because of medical reasons, sugar remains sweet because that is one of its properties
2. Salt remains sour regardless of whether one takes it or not. It makes food taste well and is also associated with high blood pressure but neither of these attributes invalidate its taste.
3. Water remains tasteless regardless of whether one drinks it or not. You would need to add other chemicals or components for it to change its taste. Regardless of whether it is warm or cold, water in its natural state remains tasteless.
Using these 3 analogies, I want to dare you to be yourself and be confident in who you are. It doesn't matter how people will characterise you i.e. arrogant, proud, docile, confident. Stick to what you do best, sharpen your skills, and leave a mark in this world. It's high time you unleash your full potential with minimal regard for how people will perceive you.
As a demonstration of my practising what I preach, I am making a wager on my coaching career.
Invite me to facilitate a session, training, or workshop on leadership, team building, or communication for free at your company/organisation. That is virtual or physical. If you find my delivery unsatisfactory, you can unfollow me or discontinue reading any of my posts in the future. I am confident of my skills in that area and am willing to bet on myself. DM if interested and we can discuss further.
Once again, I dare you as you begin 2024 to fully embrace your competencies, shine in your glory, and showcase your skills unapologetically. No validation supersedes that which is internal.
