SKYROOT is a duo of a DJ and a live percussionist, who incorporate African percussion into modern House, Afro House, Afro Tech, and Amapiano genres of music. Formed in 2021, the duo has been seen on various entertainment scenes around Zimbabwe. Tanaka (DJ Tannie Swiss) is a Zimbabwean, open format DJ & Graphic Designer who emerged on the scene in 2010.Tannie Swiss comes with a whole new experience of blending multiple tracks and genres whilst djying in fusion with a number of live instruments; which is where WOWRAE comes in. Kudzai (WOWRAE.) is a Zimbabwean based instrumentalist who has been playing marimba for 13 years. His main instrument is the marimba, but he also plays the djembe drum, Zimbabwean ngoma, ngororombe (traditional pen pipes), hosho, and various other percussion instruments. The duo of DJ Tannie Swiss and WOWRAE has played since 2014, but also officially formed a group in 2021. Since then, the group has gained the recognition. SKYROOT is to bring an electric, lively and immersive experience.
