Dear valued customers,

We've been contemplating reopening the business so many times but today we've decided to say goodbye to Nenda's Kitchen permanently.

We recently lost the muse, the namesake behind the brand herself. As I said to some of my customers previously, the number one reason why we hesitated to reopen is due to the pressure to increase our prices. In honour of her memories, we would rather stop than to hike the prices of the desserts she used to lovingly made for her customers back then.

We sincerely thank you for your support and it has been such a delightful experience to share my mother's legacy with all of you.

Dear valued customers,

We are still in indefinite hiatus and with the rising cost of raw ingredients, I am really hesitant to continue selling nostalgic, comforting foods that I grew up with, at higher prices. Saying that, I need to make worth of my time and effort too so we'll see what's going to happen in the future!

In the meantime, Nenda's Kitchen Adelaide is Nenda's Garden Adelaide for a bit! 🌿

Dear valued customers,

After much deliberation, we have made a difficult decision to, hopefully just pause, not to stop our tiny business for the time being.

For how long?

It is still uncertain at this stage. However, as we recently acquired natural immunity against Covid-19 (I was something of a scientist myself 😂), we figured it is the perfect time to go back and spend time with our family back in Malaysia after three long years until we get our lease situation resolved.

We hope this is not a goodbye and we appreciate your patience and support for the past year. It has been a blast ❤️

Had to crank up the A/C as we were working with freshly whipped cream for our ondeh-ondeh cake! 🎂 Really thought we are well into autumn lol

Our version is made of a light chiffon Pandan cake layered with gula Melaka-infused whipped cream topped with dessicated coconut and gula Melaka syrup. No artificial flavours, only real Pandan 🍃

Our ondeh-ondeh cake: looks western-inspired on the outside, 💯 Malaysian on the inside 😁

Just a note, unlike many of ondeh-ondeh cake recipes, we do not put coconut gula Melaka filling as we find it too sweet and heavy when combined with the other elements of the cake. Give our version a go! ☺️

We've been asked enough times whether we make Seri Muka or not so we've decided to bite the bullet...

The reason for our hesitation is because we are aware that there are other sellers for Seri Muka and we prefer not to 'kacau' and focus on kuih that other people don't make. But we understand the convenience of ordering a number of your favourite kuih from the same place ☺️

If you're not familiar with Seri Muka, it's a very popular kuih (yet can be temperamental too!) consist of a layer of sweet-salty coconut milk-infused glutinous rice and a layer of rich pandan custard.

This is for those who would love to share the taste of ondeh-ondeh with their non-Malaysian/South East Asian friends and relatives (I've received feedback of how the texture of ondeh-ondeh can be a bit too foreign for those who are not familiar with it 😅)

The nostalgia is really strong with this one - the smell always reminds me of whenever I touched down at Senai Airport to meet my family. Would need plenty of notice as it takes 6 hours to make it from start to finish.

Reheat in the oven at 180 degree for 5 min before consuming to get that crunchy coffee topping ☕☕
