Just a bevy of babes - all married by moi!

One of loveliest things that has happened to me as a celebrant is when I’m booked by mates in the same friend group. (I went to type “passed around the same friend group” but that had a real “keys in the bowl” vibe)

These three pairs all had different weddings at different venues - but the joy and fun of each of their ceremonies was unique to each of them.

Emma & Matt met on Bumble over five years ago.

Emma’s first impression of Matt was that he was a totally hottie who was way out of her league and was likely a player who would ghost her anyway. However she threw caution to the wind, decided to play the part of the cool girl and messaged him regardless.

The banter started straight away with Emma asking him what he did for a living to which he replied that he was a p**n star, and so he filled holes for a living. Don’t worry – he was quick to reassure that he was in fact a plasterer, which means that he did in fact, fill holes for a living. Fun fact: To this day he is saved in her phone as “Matt Holes”.

Anyway, back to the action: so they immediately bonded over their shared love of Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sam Harris, Animal Rescues and even discussed plans for a first date in cemetery. Alas Matt thought he would be too vulnerable meeting someone in a place reserved for death and so they settled for pizza. And while said pizza was mediocre, the company was excellent.

On first impressions in the flesh, Matt told me, “I thought she had really kind eyes...... once I looked up from her massive jugs.”

I adore these two. A wedding that featured bubble boys down the aisle, party hats & a lucky dip witness selection all added to the fun.

Adorable cuties Amara & Heidi were married on Sunday at the glorious

These two first me in high school when Amara was warned about hanging out with a “foul mouthed” girl in the year ahead of her who had “dyed hair.” 😂 (oh no Cleo!)

That foul mouth was actually the lovely Heidi (not a foul mouth at all either). Amara liked her instantly.

Over 7 years later they got to share their love in front of all of their loved ones - a love that was kept clandestine for many years. ❤️

Still absolutely buzzing from the wild joy that was marrying Emma & Matt yesterday.

When the whole ceremony starts with drinks, everyone donning party hats and bubble boys dancing down the aisle with the groom in tow, well ya know it’s gonna be a belter.

Add in the most epic of wedding dresses, a very cute monochrome hound, Lego flowers, a small (almost) feminist rant mid ceremony, D&D themed vows and the groom declaring, “I’ve never been more aroused” mid themed vows - and well, fair to say it’s going down as one of my all time faves.

So so happy for this gorgeous duo who trusted me to tell their story with all of the gold they gave me about each other.

Allysha & TJ scored an absolute beauty of an Autumn day yesterday for their wedding. As a former wedding coordinator, Allysha knew exactly how to plan the perfect day.

Days after their epic wedding, Alice & Mitch sent me the loveliest of emails:

“Thank you so much for such an amazing ceremony.

We honestly couldn’t have imagined a ceremony with anyone but you! You captured our story perfectly - it was the best mix of humour and heartwarming stuff. A lot of our guests said it was one of the best ceremonies they’ve been too – big ups!

You’re a bloody pro and we felt like we were in the safest pair of celebrant hands in the whole wide world so thank you for that. Wish we could get married every weekend so we could have you officiate again and again – sorry if that’s a bit much?”

Alice & Mitch first met when they both moved from Grafton to live in Brissy. Alice thought he was super cool, although admittedly she can’t remember what her idea of cool was back then though. 😂 But she made it clear - she had no interest in Grafton boys. So Mitch had his work cut out for him.

So what did he do? Wooed her with a personalised mixed CD complete with a jacket explaining why he’d picked each song & and the asked her out with a, “Will you be my girlfriend? Yes/no” tick box note.

Here they are: the duo who planned a wedding in one month. Yep, Mitch & Christin had a window of time in which she felt good in her pregnancy & many of their best people were in town - so the hitching happened!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been back at so it was such a treat to spend a Sunday arvo there sharing their story.

They met at work & when the elevator doors would open, Christin would get giggly and have to avert her gaze as Mitch stepped out. There was a rule on no fraternising - but they soon both got over that 😂

And then it was Katie & Craig’s turn! These two have been together for over 17 years and have four beautiful kids together. ❤️ Quite the celebration of a life together.

These two had the most epic set up at on Saturday and their guests were ready to PARTY. Drinks on arrival is also a good idea 👌

Katie had the idea to walk down the aisle to this song many years ago & so it was amazing to see her finally live out her aisle moment the way she had always imagined it.

Emilie and Chris have known each other since they were kids - when Chris used to play footy with her older brother.

But they REALLY got to know each other when they stumbled across the others’ profile on Bumble. Yes friends – the rollercoaster that is online dating is what brought these two together. Now this isn’t a linear story because Emilie actually dodged Chris a bit after meeting on the app - in Emilie’s defence she maintains that this stalling was actually because she knew he was a keeper so she really wanted to make sure she was ready to give a relationship with him a red hot go.

Anyway, fast forward a few months and with Chris sliding into her DMs a few too many times with a few too many flame emojis - they finally teed up a date!
Upon seeing Emilie after so many years Chris told me, “Safe to say it was love at first sight, again.”

Jordy & Kylie planned the loveliest little riverside nuptials on a gorgeous Autumn morning last week.

Surrounded by a wee group of their loved ones, these two promised to love each forever & continue with their spontaneous day trips that turn into mini breaks, 2pm wines that turn into 1am trips to The Beat & continuing to take their dog Agatha to Chihuahua meet ups so that she can experience her culture.

With a big picnic in the park yesterday, these two created the most them wedding day followed by a trip to Straddie to enjoy their newlywed status.

I had THE BEST morning. ❤️

Meet the Dunells!

Almost 7 years ago Courtney met Jackson when she was on her teaching prac at the high school where he worked.

They both have a distinct memory of her watching Jackson rehearse a dance that all of the teachers were involved in for Dance night and although there was a lot to be desired she provided some kind and honest feedback. And speaking of feedback, on first impressions of Courtney he couldn’t help but notice that she was quite the stunner – but also joyful, inquisitive and bubbly.

However things didn’t really kick off until they both found themselves at staff drinks at the Eaton’s hill hotel. Suddenly, a few drinks deep, she again found herself watching him dancing – but this time he was carving up the dancefloor. This being the second viewing of him throwing shapes she couldn’t help but think, “He got moves” she told me, “As a dancer, I really had some competition.”

Now, why the mention of drinks consumed I hear you ask? Well they provided the wee bit of courage that both needed to really get chatting, hit the dancefloor & swap numbers.

Kyle & Hayley are a Tinder success story - amazing that things even kicked off given Kyle had ONE profile pic & NO bio. But Hayley felt drawn to him regardless - her intuition was right!

Yesterday I married these two angels on their beautiful farm at Mount Samson.

The weather gods played nice and we remained rain free and while it wasn’t without some serious mud - the day was an absolute treat.

18 years and 7 months since they pashed on the driveway of their mate Brendan’s house these two got married at last week.

These two had an emotion packed ceremony where we paid tribute to their beautiful late friend Jasper who introduced them & where it was revealed that Ben cannot comprehend that Elle chops veges the way she does.

An absolutely delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Here’s the thing, I’ll read out the funny thing that you shared with me about your partner & then laugh with you because life is just better when you’re laughing. (I will have also already laughed when I first read it in your questionnaire & again when I shared it with my husband)😂

Amanda on James: He is supremely practical, sometimes to a fault. Amanda’s exact words on this were, “it burns my soul that he is so practical.” He really likes to mull things over and weigh up his options which would explain why he took 11 years to propose.

Wondering where I am most Saturdays? Well, definitely at fewer weddings that’s for sure. A combo of & self imposed limits have made for the most inconsistent calendar of nuptials I’ve ever had!

This month: 3 weddings
April: 7 weddings (broke my rules and booked every Saturday)
May: 2 weddings (unheard of)

Annnd the rest of 2024 follows a similar pattern: busy/quiet/busy/quiet…

As a two job Sally, I’ve appreciated the slow down and the ability to finally say no to as many big travellers or double wedding weekends so I can hang with my fam while my kids still think I’m cool. But I am still so so excited for this wonderful job of mine ❤️ I think finding balance is making me a better celebrant.

Thanks for all of the enquiries & know that if I’m not available I will always send you in the direction of other excellent celebrants.

Look at these angel faces!

Amanda & James were but wee teenage babes when they first crossed paths. They shared classes together throughout their high school years but only really became mates in Year 12 and by this stage, well it was fair to say that James had developed quite the crush.

You see, he was quite shy and at his first proper high school party when he saw Amanda surrounded by mates laughing and having fun. Her laughter was so endearing and it completely consumed his attention. And it was that very night that a conversation was struck up and from here, well James was smitten.

Now I should point out that the year was 2011 so James raced home and did what anyone young man with a crush would, opened a facebook account with the specific goal to start chatting with Amanda. Did he start chatting with her then and there? No. that part of the plan took more courage than he had at that point in time. It actually took him a few weeks to be confident enough to message her and ask her out. So you could imagine that when he sent that fateful message on a Saturday morning and she didn’t respond until the next morning – well it’s fair to say that he thought that he had blown it.

He needn’t have worried though because Amanda was just on a social media hiatus but she had noticed him too.

And so they saw The Hangover 2 at the movies and on their third date he asked her out and shouted her a 50 cent maccas cone – would more could a gal want?

Richele & Ben had a very fun wedding in his folks’ backyard just over a week ago.

Third time was the charm for these two after 15 glorious years together & two kiddos to boot!

Scored an epic and very hot day for it & from what I’ve been told, there were some very sore heads the next day.

There’s something about backyard weddings that just sends people hey? 😂🍻🥂

Chris & Julia met on Tinder & now they’re married.

Now that it even got to this point is really a minor miracle. You see- young Julia had been single for quite a few years and had also downloaded the app countless times before, but the second someone struck up a chat with her she would immediately become overwhelmed and delete the app. But this download, well she was a wee bit more open to meeting someone. But not a pilot - definitely not a pilot – that she had very strong feelings about.

It must have been the photo of him holding a fish that made her linger ( I don’t mean that in a good way – I mean linger in a “really??” way)– because something about him made her want to swipe right, and so she did. They started chatting and immediately clicked.

She decided to put him through his paces on their first date & invited him to meet her at her favourite café – a vegan one. One first impressions, Julia told me, “Chris was so full of joy. He was calm & happy & so eager to get to know me.”

Meanwhile Chris told me, “She was so cool. The way she dressed, the way she carried herself, I knew she was way out of my league. She’s always been cooler than me and I love that! Then we spent some time together and I realised just how smart and funny she was, and how easy it was to be with her. Everything was simple, and as we grew closer it became evident that I was going to spend the rest of my life with her.”

Fun fact: Chris is still saved in her phone with a tinder fire emoji to this day.

As I sit staring out at my quite grim square of backyard I am reminded that some people have epic back yards & instead of murdering plants, well they lovingly grow them and cultivate a space that could rival any city botanic garden.

Then of course I think of Sean & Marcus & their incredible green space. Thought it might be time to share again because HOLY S**T IT’S MAGICAL - so magical they had their wedding in it.

🔈 Small businesses are made or broken when it comes to word of mouth. It means the world to me that anyone would take time out of their day to leave a few kind words.
