Congratulations to one of our volunteers, Bryan Smith, who was recognised and awarded as the Senior Volunteer of the Year at the 2024 Centre of Volunteering Orana Volunteer of the Year awards today.
Bryan has been delivering meals (both Hot and Frozen meals) with Meals on Wheels Dubbo for 18 years, and spent a couple of those years helping with our Transport services, and taking clients to appointments - whether that be hairdressers, doctors, shopping, podiatrists.
We congratulate Bryan on this achievement and Meals on Wheels Dubbo will be supporting him and his wife, Marg, as he progresses to the State Finals Dinner in December.

Need gone before weekend.
Meals on Wheels Dubbo has some 150mm thick insulation that came out of a freezer. Its on 2 pallets.
It would be great for lining a horse stable, dog kennels or to line a storage container if you have sensitive items. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Make an offer and we can give you a tax deductible receipt for your donation.

This week is National Volunteer Week.

We would like to say a massive "Thank you" to everyone who volunteers their time to deliver meals in Dubbo Narromine and Trangie; or take our clients to appointments or shopping (for our Dubbo clients only).

Without you, we wouldn't be able to provide this service to the elderly residents of these three communities.

The final few months of 2023 were very busy and missed publicly recognising the 10 year anniversary of staff members Tash and Nicole.
They both began at Meals on Wheels Dubbo on 23rd September. Unfortunately, it wasn't until November where fellow staff, Board and family were able to celebrate their milestone.

Tash has been primarily co-ordinating volunteers in Dubbo, Narromine and Trangie, and the first contact for new clients to our service.
She manages and oversees the 6 Hot Meal runs and 2 Frozen Runs in Dubbo, to ensure that they run smoothly for our delivery people, and makes changes if required.
For 6 months, Tash managed the Transport and Social Support component of our service.
She also assists in the Freezers by packing meals if required.

Nicole started as Admin Assistant, progressed onto Accounts, and over the last 18 months, Stock Controller & Logistics of our Frozen meals for our Dubbo, Narromine, Trangie and 20 other regional areas.
She is the friendly person you will be greeted with if you call or come into the office.
Nicole makes sure that everything is running smoothly in the office and has everything available and ready for the other staff. If there is an issue, such as technology, printer or a breakdown, Nicole will manage and remedy the problem.
If Nicole isn't at her desk, you will probably find her in the Freezer, helping to pack meals, stock shelves, or doing a stocktake, in preparation of ordering more meals.

In the last couple of months, both Tash and Nicole have obtained their forklift licence, so they are able to load and unload deliveries.

Meals on Wheels Dubbo thanks you both for your dedication and hard-work over this time. You are both a valuable asset to the Service and the community.

2023 wow what a ending to the year, Meals On Wheels Dubbo celebrated 60years of service in the Dubbo Community.
We were fortunate to have Carmel Lawler travel from Sydney to attend the dinner. Carmel's husband Peter was 1 of the founders of Meals on Wheels in Dubbo.
Congratulations to Catholic Community who also celebrated 60 years of volunteering with Meals on Wheels Dubbo.
Also congratulations to our many other Volunteers who we celebrated their milestones on the night - ranging from 5-30 years of volunteering.
We were acknowledged from NSW Meals on Wheels with a plaque, for our dedicated service to the community.
It was a great night had by all.

Dubbo RSL for the catering and drinks; and Sally Baking for the cake.
Also thank you to Member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders MP for attending the event.

Today, is the day to take the time to reflect on what the past, and current service personnel have sacrificed, in order to provide us with the life that we have.
They thank them for their courage.

Have you got an elderly parent, relative or friend living in Narromine and Trangie?
Did you know that Meals on Wheels Dubbo co-ordinates meals for the Narromine and Trangie elderly community.
Hot meals are delivered lunchtime, 7 days a week in Narromine and 5 days per week (Monday to Friday) in Trangie.
Frozen meals are delivered every Thursday.
If you know someone who would require or benefit from this service, please give Tash a call at the office on 6882 4083 or her mobile 0474 882 088.

Meals on Wheels Dubbo office will be closed on Thursday 26th January 2023, due to the Australia Day Public Holiday.

We will re-open at 9am on Friday 27th January 2023.

There will be no Hot meal deliveries in Dubbo or Trangie on this day.
However, Narromine Hot Meal deliveries will proceed as normal.
