Focus ✨
. is my word for 2024.

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you πŸ’›

I have done a lot of thinking and I have made a decision. I won't run this as a business for the time being, maybe in the future, maybe not and maybe never again. Only time will tell.

My aim is to attend our local Made n' Grown - 3 Rivers Region market every month.
Flower availability will vary, but I will be sure to let you know here if there is a chance to grab some fresh blooms ✨

I want my focus to be on my family and my job at TAFE NSW. I'm very passionate about teaching floristry and I feel deep that it is the right path for me.

However I'll never stop learning and explore. I dream of attending workshops, do a bit of freelance work and educate myself further within floristry. I want to play with new (and old) techniques, explore different materials, dig even more into sustainable practices within floristry and I would love to share with you the designs I create, if you stick around on this page.

When I come up with a name for this page that feels right, then I will rename it.
Sometimes this page will be quiet, sometimes I'll have lots to share. It all depends on how busy life is.

When the time, energy and material to share is there, I will share. When not, know you are not forgotten, but my focus is elsewhere.

A couple of days ago I got reminded that it is the little things that really are the big things in life. I don't want to be so busy that I don't pay attention to the little things and let them slip away.

Thank you for your understanding and I truly hope you want to stick around and follow the next chapter of my floral journey ✨

What is your word for 2024?
Let the new year be magical, pay attention to the little things ✨

Come and wage peace and kindness with us!

Makers Space invites you to an afternoon of cosiness, comfortable conviviality and contentment.

It’s FREE to come along, from 2 - 5 on Saturday December 16. This is our gift to you.

Let’s escape the epidemic of busyness, media horrors and the hustle and bustle of life, for just a few hours. Join our makers, Anne and Sandra, for a cosy afternoon break, and wrap yourself in words of peace and Danish hygge.

You can just enjoy the company, or get creative and make a traditional Danish julehjerte or a β€˜words of peace’ collage heart. (there is a little gift waiting for anyone who can master the pronunciation of β€˜hygge’ and β€˜julehjerte’!)

Our Makers Space Christmas Pop-up Shop will be open too!

First candle is lit ✨
Give yourself a few hours to slow down on the 16th of December. It'll be hygge ✨ and wonder how to make the stars like in the photo? Come along the 16th and I'll show you how to and you can take home your own. We hope to see you there πŸŽ„

Advent ✨
This year I have finally got around to make a proper advent wreath. A tradition we've always sworn by in my family, because it is 'hygge' πŸ’›
Every Sunday up until Christmas Eve we light one candle, so on the fourth Sunday all four candles are lit. Starting on different dates each year depending on, when the first Sunday of the four is before Christmas Eve. This year we light the first candle this Sunday the 3rd of December.

Have you ever heard of this tradition before? ✨

Remember never to leave burning candles unattended ☝️

The face behind By Damgaard 🌱

Some of you know me personally, some of you have seen me around Dunedoo, some would have seen me at various markets, some would have seen me in my teacher role, and some might never have seen me before. But let's put a face to the business, shall we? πŸ˜…

So here I am! (and my furry friend Kento)

Firstly; Hi and welcome!
My name is Sandra and I'm forever grateful you are here.

Now a little about me and my why.

My why
To be able to create something meaningful for someone in both good and bad times is incredibly rewarding. It makes my heart happy. I'm humbled and honoured that this is my way of life. Being creative and even being able to pass on what I have learned by teaching floristry is no less than amazing!
As soon as I came across an actually career path as a florist (after a long bumpy road to find my path), everything within me said 'yes!'. I have always picked flowers (and rocks - so many beautiful rocks! And sticks! Their different shapes is so inspiring!). I have always felt at home in nature. Now I get to create for you in your happiest times, your hardest times and everything in between. Feelings, thoughts and words described with natures wonders. What more can I ask for? 🌱

Floristry facts about me
- I work with you and your ideas, if you have a vision.
- Nature is my biggest inspiration
- I started my floristry career more than 10 years ago
- I'm a certified florist in both Denmark and Australia
.. and 3 things about me outside the floristry world
- I love colouring in and painting (I have heard you don't have to be good at something to enjoy it πŸ˜‰)
- I enjoy a cup of tea (and I am in fact good at drinking tea, haha! Teapigs liquorice and peppermint has been a favourite for years!)
- I got promoted to Mum in February πŸ’œ

That's all for now guys! Have a great Tuesday ☺️

Made n' Grown markets this Saturday the 8th 🌱
I hope to see you there.

On this beautiful rainy day, I've picked up the most stunning flowers from Bilby Blooms and staying warm with a hot cup of chai. I have to do a big shout-out to The Bee Farmer's Wife - the chai honey is a brilliant idea! If you like chai latte, you'll have to try this:

Choose your preferred milk, warm it up to your preference and stir in a good teaspoon of chai honey. Voila!

Enjoy the rain πŸ’¦

Anzac Day 2023

Did you know, that ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps and that 'Lest We Forget' is borrowed from a line in a well-known poem written in the 19th century?
The phrase 'lest we forget' means 'it should not be forgotten'.

Lest We Forget πŸ’œ

To remember always the service and sacrifice of people who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Floral cuff 🀍

I have been exploring new techniques thanks to Nadine from The Ivy Institute and I'm so excited to share the end result of this floral cuff with you. Also called a wrist corsage as many of you would know them as.

This technique is definitely a keeper, it is incredibly comfortable to wear and I often get asked if these types of design lasts and the answer is; yes, most definitely!
I only use materials that I know will last the entire event you'll be wearing it for 🀍

Have a wonderful weekend πŸ’›

Flowers for the annual Deb Ball at Dunedoo Central School done and dusted 🀍
A massive thank you to DCS for choosing me again this year to create the flowers for the ball.
I hope, you all had a wonderful day and night 🀍

A cascading bouquet with crossed stems 🀍
Finished off as a normal bouquet ready to be popped into a vase, but can easily be used as a wedding bouquet as well, which would just require a ribboned finish of the stems for the bride to hold 🀍

Have a wonderful Sunday 🌱
