As always Steve McMarson fabulous photography x looking forward to seeing more of Sam and Rick's photos
I have just come off 3 weddings in 3 days. While most photographers disappear shortly after the reception starts, I provide coverage until the end of the reception or until my eyes are broken!
Documenting the decline into chaos and revelry has its drawbacks. It is time intensive. The lighting environment is always challenging - eye strain is a killer for a photographer. There are guests that get a bit handsy and fatigue on the drive home is always a concern.
The positives however, such as capturing authentic memories for my clients of friends and family having a great time, by and large out way any of the drawbacks. The sleep bank can be managed, handsy guests can be discouraged etc
Another benefit of having photos of friends and families getting messy is that they make for great social media blackmail material .. I am told ;P
The wedding of Rick and Sam was a thing of beauty. So much time, effort and vision to create a setting in their backyard that was reflective of who they are and how they like to celebrate. I will share some of the crazy amazing detail in another post but for now I wanted to show you this image of them making out in their shed.
Rick and Sam were married in an outdoor ceremony at 5pm. When they set the date, they were sure that this particular Sunday would have a beautiful big fresh full moon to illuminate their union. Turns out someone read that chart wrong!! This wedding will officially take over as the darkest wedding I have photographed.
The great thing about adversity is that it frees you up to take some chances and try things differently. Suffice to say I have come away with some epic memories for them to cherish. One of my favorites will be a sequence of silhouette images where they are standing in front of a decent sized bonfire.
