Dietary Requirements Oh No!
One of the biggest conversations when planning an event is food, what to serve, how to serve it, what flavour are you trying to achieve? But that all goes out the window once your guests start to tell you what they can’t eat.
Most venues will accommodate most medical or religious requirements without any issue as well as vegetarians and gluten free. However a guest on a low fat diet really doesn’t fit into these moulds. Venues may accommodate, always ask, but be prepared for a surcharge. Think about it, chances are they have to order specialised food, have an alternate chef prepare this menu and at times a whole section of the kitchen set up differently to create these menus in.
You have negotiated the rates with the venue based on the standard menu they serve. Variations do cost money. Be assertive with your guests and discuss options clearly and honestly. Majority of times guests will opt for one of the on option menus rather than worry about having something specially prepared. Or suggest that this is their cheat meal for the week...most diets allow that! 😉👩🍳🍽

Have you ever been asked, what style of event are you going for? How do you answer that, I hear you ask...Style can be anything from theme, setup, type of event, even personal taste. A great eventprof will lead you through a number of questions to help build that picture of your style and how that is going to reach your outcomes.
If you want to increase numbers, increase revenue, create an amazing networking opportunity or just hold an event that everyone loves your style will direct these outcomes. Don’t be afraid to talk to your event planner and ask advice, they have seen and done it all before and yes they have probably held a similar event they can draw experience on.

Know Your Budget 💰...we all know every event has a budget. Face it Events need to be profitable otherwise what's the point? So do your sums and share this information with your suppliers, time is wasted going back and forth when really what you have is $100 but what you want costs $1000. As with most suppliers they too can weave some magic to get you to your end goal, have open communication, explain what your outcome needs to be and let your suppliers make a decision on whether they can help.
Your supplier network becomes the key to an event planners success and a great supplier will offer you their best advice, even if it's not them on this occasion.
