In front of just a handful of their nearest and dearest, they decided that this felt right, and I was all for it! The mood was enchanting, slightly dim, but the vibe was absolutely spot on! Not sure what some people do on a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm, but I just happened to do some marrying ✨

🥂Cheers to an amazing first half of 2024🥂

I just finished over 10 weeks of weddings in a row, and I must say, it was absolutely EPIC! From wineries, to backyards, to huge 200+ guest weddings to legals only elopements at ATC HQ, it had literally everything. Now it begins to wind down again and then right back up in September, with a few weddings in between to keep things full of spice.

Here's to more joy and happiness to come in the second half of 2024, and I cannot wait for all it has to offer 🥰🔥

Champagne towers 🍾

Linda and John had a pretty epic engagement party turned surprise wedding, which I just happened to be the celebrant for, and celebrated it all in style with some champagne towers (a song could definitely be made about it). It was so great being a part of this epic wedding and knowing they were a couple who enjoyed every second, just made the party even more amazing!

How many ways can you construct your wedding party? Sometimes, you can have 4 bridesmaids and groomsmen on each side (a popular choice!) like Nicole and Ryan did, sometimes, you can have a mix of bridesmaids, groomsmen, bridesmen and groomsmaids, and everything in between. Sometimes, you just want it to be the two of you, and that is fine as well. Whatever combination you choose for your crew, just know they are your biggest supporters, and cannot wait to see you both get happily hitched and enjoy the rest of your lives as a married couple!

Here's a fun fact about Alyssa and Daniel's wedding, it was the first one to make me cry! I would say I am maybe a semi-emotional person, I mean, I cry at The Notebook, but when vows are that beautiful, it just seems natural to have a bit of emotion here and there. Usually when I am officiating your wedding, I put on a brave face, but sometimes we are all human. I send my couples a vow writing guide as part of my resources, so if you want to write vows that make everyone in the room sob uncontrollably, or at the very least tear up, I have you covered! 😉

Congrats again Alyssa and Daniel, what a beautiful elopement it was to be a part of, truly honoured! ✨

Hyping up the crowd! ✨

Weddings can be super exciting, but can also be sprinkled with some stress here and there, so one of my many hats involves being super smiley, getting the crowd engaged, and ensuring that 99.9% of those nerves have subsided by the time the couple walk down the aisle (because a tiny bit of nerves is just natural). This vibe continues on through the rest of the ceremony and by the end of it, the nerves have all but disappeared! 😎

Pure joy ✨

Weddings bring out the best in you both as a couple. It is a way to express your emotions in front of your nearest and dearest, and to enjoy a day of festivities, but mostly to celebrate your love and make your union together official. Aiwee and Jan did just that with traditional outfits and a dress she made herself! It was truly amazing being part of their special day, and this photo really does sum up how much fun we had there!

4/5/2024 ~ Seles & David ~ 🎉

This one was very special to me. Last minute I had a wonderful celebrant who needed a replacement as she was unwell and could not marry her lovely couple. I stepped in, ensured I was the right fit for the couple, and before I knew it, I was headed to the incredible Abbotsford Convent to get Seles and David married. That celebrant was , and getting the opportunity to present a ceremony so well written and crafted was truly an honour and a privilege and it was not lost on me how special this was. I am pleased to report that the day went smoothly, and I most definitely did Sophie's ceremony justice.

Seles and David had a pretty amazing story, and all 3 of us being lawyers, we know that legally getting married was a contractual agreement all 3 of us were more than happy to sign 😉

Anna & Sean ~ 2/3/2024 ~ 🎉

Becky and Jeffrey - 1 year anniversary ✨

I can't believe it has been 1 year since I married these two, but this wedding also has a big place in my heart for me too. It was my 10th wedding, which ordinarily, wouldn't mean that much to anyone, but the significance for me is big. It was my first wedding with a videographer, so naturally I had a bit more pressure to do well. I also had one of my cele-besties .alycebailey there as a roadie, so it doubled the pressure even more.

But the thing that made it significant for me was it was the first wedding where I thought to myself 'I was really meant to be a celebrant, this is my true calling'. Everyone was raving about how much they loved the ceremony and made me think 'if I am this good at my 10th wedding, imagine how good I'll be at my 50th wedding' and well you can ask Karen and Jun their thoughts on that one 😉.

Happy 1 year Becky and Jeffrey, and thank you both for taking me out of my celebrant shell, and shaping me up to be the epic celebrant I am today!

The Ambience 🌸

One thing that I absolutely loved about Danielle and Andrew's wedding was the immaculate florals they had, which was provided by the amazing . Florals can add a whimsical flare to your wedding and are also great to accentuate those spaces that you have no idea what to fill in with. This day was truly stunning all around and I was so honoured to be a part of it!

Celebrant 101, lesson 99:

Use a ballpoint pen. I used to use a fountain pen at the start because they look super cool, but ink would smudge all over the certificate each time without fail. I can imagine it gets to the point where that isn't a look anymore and maybe my couples don't want ink stains all over a document that they will most likely frame. My first few couples thought it was cool, but I'm happy to report it hasn't happened since! And yes, this photo is confirmation that I'm right-handed ✍️

Why being a side hustle hitcher is my thing ✨

I always love and admire all those amazing individuals who are able to turn the best job in the world into a full-time career. These beautiful humans dedicate all their time and energy into marrying people and living and breathing celebrancy at every turn.

For others, like me, exploring multiple ventures at once is something that excites me. Many of us have multiple interests and in order to explore these ventures to their full potential, it would be amiss to entirely give up on one to fully purse the other. That does not mean that I don't live and breathe celebrancy all the time, I honestly do, but it means that there is unfinished business in other aspects of my life preventing me from doing one thing full-time.

I have a day job which I have been at for over 7 years now, and even thought it really has been that long to the point that I have started accruing long-service leave, there are certain aspects of it which I feel I have not reached my full potential in. Every corner there is growth, learning and improving, just like with celebrancy, so the only way to continue these horizons is to embrace both, 50-50 and be extremely happy doing so.

Whilst this does mean taking on less couples over the coming years, it also means I am able to live a happier, more balanced life, and continue to do things I love, both in celebrancy, and in my day job. I honestly have the best jobs in the world and continuing to grow and embrace my interests is something I am very passionate about!

Videos

To send or not to send scripts 😏 It's a topic on a lot of couple's minds. As one of my grooms Ric mentioned here, I do send very lengthy questionnaires to all my couples to ensure your responses amazing for me to perfectly draft your ceremony. As Ric also mentioned, I sent both him and Jess a copy of the ceremony (and there is your answer, I send my scripts to my couples!) This is for a number of reasons, but the main one being that I don't want any overlap between what I am saying during your ceremony, and what you want to say during your vows or speeches during the reception. As you can see here, Ric was able to use his awesome line about what marriage meant to him and get a good laugh from everyone because he was able to remove that part from my script, and use it himself. The same may not have been said if he didn't have a chance to look at what I wrote, and I just went ahead with it. Your opinion as my couples matter so much, and that is why I am always a script sender, and will be for life.
