Monica Santos is an Argentinean singer/composer from Jujuy who will be interpreting Argentinean folklore at its best. Mónica plays charango and caja coplera to advocate the musicality from South America.
For this night, she has invited the renowned multi-instrumentalist Michel Bestrin, Paloma Bica violinist of the Tango Melbourne Orchestra ,Daniel Santos ( Monica's father playing bombo for the first time in Australia with her), and a special dance intervention by the Bolivian Dancer Jael Velasco Fuentes.

Murga Madre is an artist collective bringing the magic and spirit of Latin Carnival from Buenos Aires to Australia, adding its own original spin. Rooted in the Argentinean carnival tradition, it blends European, African and Latin influences with the unique rhythm of the drumming bombo, through colour, passion, song and dance.

The Bolivia Marka dancers are a group of fun-loving people brought together by their shared passion of Bolivian music, dance and culture in Brisbane Australia. The group was formed in 1999 by Jaime Moscoso, his daughters and close family friends. Born in Bolivia and now based in Brisbane, Jaime formed the Bolivia Marka Dance Group to share his cultural heritage and the various dances that hail from Bolivia.
The dances undertaken by the members of Bolivia Marka are representative of dances from the world-heritage recognised Oruro Carnaval which takes place annually in Bolivia. The Oruro carnaval showcases a melting-pot of cultural fusion of the indigenous people of Bolivia
Bolivia Marka specialises in dancing only Folkloric dances from Bolivia (the forefront of those being Caporales, Morenada, Tinku, Diablada and Kullawada, and we stand against Cultural Appropriation of any kind. We believe in honouring our ancestors and the traditions they have passed onto us; we believe in the power of our indigenous people to thrive and we will carry on those traditions. We thank the traditional owner of this great land Australia, on which we have travelled to and live today, and pay our respects to their elders past and present.

We feel humbled to have a second headliner for the upcoming Winter Solstice celebrations: Barrio Lindo (Live). He, along with El Búho run shika shika ,a record label we always draw inspiration from. Their releases are regular on our repertoire in our events.
Bio
Agustín Rivaldo is Barrio Lindo. Luthier, musician and producer from Buenos Aires,Argentina. Since 2012 he weaves sonorities and songs that intertwine electronic music and organic sound. Passionate about popular music he constantly pursues a sound
inspired by the folklore and sound of Latin American streets. From the beginning, his name was established globally as a reference in the South American folktronica wave,sharing trajectory with artists like Chancha via Circuito,Nicola Cruz, Dengue
Dengue Dengue, etc.
From 2016 he settled in Europe from where he toured around the world performing multiple presentations festivals and venues in +35 countries
between Latin America, USA, Europe, Japan and Australia. In addition to his artistic career Barrio Lindo founded Shika Shika collective, together with the British producer El Búho, creating a label-platform that promotes artists of the nu world music genre. Project of which he is currently Director and which has 7 years of trajectory having released music of +90 artists from all over the world.

We are thrilled to have Chancha via Circuito, he is one of the pioneers of the Folktronica Sound and has been an inspiration for us at ISU TAKI. Chancha has been making waves as a producer for the past decade and is one of South America’s most prolific and well know folktronica, downtempo and digital cumbia producers.
Bio
Pedro Canale, better known as his stage name Chancha Vía Circuito is a producer, DJ/remixer and composer, from Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fusion of electronic music and cumbia is key factor of Chancha Vía Circuito’s music. He explores the minimal side of digital cumbia with inspiration from Afro-dance, murgas, minimal dub, IDM, and downtempo. Computer bleeps share sonic space with folkloric chant. Candombe drums are accompanied by the sample of a machete splicing the air and a vocal line of indigenous bebop is layered over hints of dub

This Sunday the 28th of January, join us for a night in the Caribbean Colombia and move to the beats of Cumbia, folktronica, and other traditional yet emerging original music by @amaru_tribe and breath-taking dance intervention by Kathleen Gonzalez aka @ethnodanceology.
This 4-piece band based in Melbourne will perform for the first time in Brisbane, and @isu.taki and @echoandbounce_ (Woolloongabba) are thrilled to be their hosts.
The night will not just be a rare opportunity to experience quality live music, but we are working hard to create a whole experience.
