Australia’s Anika Loftus (Team Loftus Racing) has scored a sensational third place in the first-ever FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy held in Teterow, Germany!
But it was a sour ending for Anika after she crashed alongside Dutch star Nynke Sijbesma, with both riders sustaining injuries and being taken to hospital for further checks. Anika has a suspected broken collarbone.
Due to track damage, the meeting was then abandoned with German professional Celina Liebmann declared the winner after 12 heats, ahead of Sijbesma and Loftus – who scored third on a countback.
And please do not adjust your glasses! That’s Anika’s mum graciously taking on podium presentation duties, celebrating another outstanding performance by an Aussie junior in Europe.
Get well soon .loftus!
