That was a lot of fun, what an amazing turnout and happy crowd. I say it every time, but it bears repeating that it's your support and enthusiasm for the music we play that makes our night a success. Thank you all for coming along, singing, dancing and supporting a local club. Lots of folks to thank as always, starting with Nadia and Cherie on the door, being the welcoming first greeters and for all they do to support us, thanks to my fellow DJ's Anita, Scott and Matt for playing some great sounds and keeping the dancefloor moving, I stood back and watched the floor going nuts a few times, it's a real pleasure to see and makes me glad inside. Thank you to our wonderful hosts at the Polish Club Stan, John, Evelyn, Rysiek, Eliza, Jadwiga, Ala and anyone I've missed for their hard work last night and all they do to make the night possible, these people volunteer their personal time for the good of the club, there's no Plastic Age without them.
Thanks again to you all, we'll be back to do it all again in a few months.

Please note the following important information for tonight.
* It's located at the Polish Club 10 Marie Street Milton in the downstairs room.
* Kick off is at 7.30pm, please don’t get there prior to 7.15pm as we’ll still be sound checking.
* If you have purchased a ticket or contacted me directly your name will be on the door list, there’s no need to bring a printed copy.
* If you don’t have a ticket, please do not come as we are at capacity and can’t let you in. there are no tickets or cash on the door.
* It’s going to be very busy, please show patience with the bar staff during peak times. These lovely people work very hard to keep us hydrated and are volunteers giving up their Saturday night for the good of the club and to help you get tipsy. Please be nice and respectful at all times.
* The L/H Bar will be full bar service including mixed drinks, vodka as well as beer and wine. The R/H Bar will be beer and wine only as that is what the majority drink. We recommend but don’t demand EFTPOS payment as it speeds up the process.
* Seating inside will be limited to approx. 80 people, there will also be tables in the courtyard area. If you want a table inside please get there at the start.
* Please note that the courtyard is a no smoking area, please smoke in the designated area at the front of the building.
* If you want to eat beforehand the Polish Club restaurant is open on Saturday nights but booking is essential as it can get busy/full. Please call 3369 2747 during business hours to book a table.
* There are also plenty of places to eat or drink on Park Road beforehand including the fantastic Tuk Tuk Bar and restaurant which we highly recommend. Once again bookings are essential.
* There is onsite and street parking available for those designated drivers.

The Polish Club restaurant is well known for its excellent menu of traditional Polish cuisine and many of our regulars go there prior to events and love the food. Ok, I've almost cleared the waiting list and have contacted the last three people this evening to let them know where we're at. For those still waiting don't give up hope as there are always cancellations in the week of the event and I will refund cancelled tickets and resell them up to Wednesday night this week.
After that I'll be stopping ticket requests and refunds as I need time to finalise the door list and get everything else done for the night. If anyone has tickets and can't make it please send a private message to the page and I'll take care of it, do not post on the page as it may get missed.

Here's an update for all on the waiting list, I'm working through it on a first come first served basis and trying to accommodate as many as possible. The club has offered a solution which I'll elaborate on further down in this post. As I said last week if I've contacted you then your tickets are locked and I'll be in touch, there's no rush for the payment. For those still waiting don't give up hope as there are always cancellations closer to the event and I will refund cancelled tickets and resell them up to the last couple of days prior to the event. If anyone has tickets and can't make it please send a private message to the page and I'll take care of it, do not post on the page as it may get missed.
As far as the night goes the club will be trialing having two bars open, the L/H bar will be a full bar as normal but the R/H bar will be for beer and wine only, it's felt that the majority drink standard beer and non mixed drinks so that bar should move quicker. The other bar will still do mixed drinks, vodka shots etc. Both bars will have EFTPOS facilities, we encourage cashless transactions as it speeds up service. We will unfortunately have to lose one table due to this but it's a small compromise to reduce the wait time for a beverage.
Once again we urge patience with the bar staff, they are club volunteers and doing their best to keep us lubricated.
I'll post more details over the next few weeks.

I'd like to thank all who contacted me privately regarding the very sad news about The Zoo and Stranded bar closing. It's taken me a few days to process that Brisbane is losing these two brilliant music venues.

Thanks to all who all who supported both venues over the years and from my perspective those who supported Stranded when I played there. There are too many names to mention but there were folks who came every time I played, even if only for a short while, you know who you are and you have my sincere gratitude for your support and friendship.

I've had an excellent run there DJ'ing over the last two years, I got to play my favourite records, some that I don't play elsewhere, I met great people, made new friends and have made memories that will last as long as I do.

I want to publicly thank those who worked there Bella, Jacqui, Miki, Nick, Kylan and many others who all made my time there easy and welcoming.

Special thanks to Mark Petler for the initial contact and the thankless task of booking the DJ's in.

Final thanks to Shane for his dedication to music and for his faith in me, for all the opportunities to DJ and for allowing me and many other vinyl DJ's to express ourselves in original format in a one of a kind venue.

I'm very grateful to be able to play at the fantastic Stranded Bar in Fortitude Valley and love the broad range of records I'm able to play over a five hour stint.

Continuing my infrequent series of sets covering the early part of the night through till close, here's a typical third hour set. It's around 10pm, the folks in the bar have been there for two hours, had a few bevvies, so they are ready to dance, the bar hoppers are popping, you want to grab their attention with people on the floor and cracking sounds.

This set has some of my favourite Stranded spins like Violent Femmes, The Cure, Devo and Blondie spinning in the gradual build up to the final hours of the night.

There's something for everyone, with timeless anthems that never grow old and always pull folks to the floor.

Play it loud, sing it loud and dance like no ones watching (If you're driving, keep your hands on the wheel)

As always this mix was recorded from my own collection of 45's at Williamson Studios.
