As the silly season of stock sales comes to an end at the Naracoorte saleyards, I’d like to mention the local businesses we couldn’t do without..
Mardi from Windara Bakery, they are open 7 days a week and deliver fresh breads even on a public holiday!
Sue East, your strawberries are amazing!
Tendercuts butcher and bakehouse, they cut and prepare meat to order, there is nothing they can not do! The bakehouse fill last minute requests, thanks Jess for always answering my SOS!
Clothiers free range eggs. Delivered straight to my door.
Naracoorte Foodland has the freshest fruit and veg.
I can’t forget the woollies click n collect girls. You save me so much time!
It takes a team to keep a small business going and I appreciate everyone I deal with.

If you’ve ever wondered how a sheep sale works then todays the day to come have a look. The annual 1st x lamb sale starts at 12:30 and the saleyards will be buzzing!

Fresh made roast vegetable frittata to please the gluten free customers at the saleyards tomorrow.
Most of my food can be ordered if you would like a night off cooking, cakes and slices for a treat or an event catered for.

The only photo I have from catering for the CFS cadet training camp this weekend is these salt n pepper beef burgers from tendercuts butchers.
The 20 cadets and trainers didn’t go hungry. Bacon and egg rolls with hash browns for breaky, fresh cakes and slices for smoko, salad rolls and sangers for lunch and burgers and pasta bakes for dinners. Some fresh fruit, chocolates, juices and crisps too.
The cfs put in a lot of hours training and volunteering to gain skills required in an emergency.

Last night we catered for the cfs annual dinner.. Well I was booked for the 7th but invites said the 6th so with an amazing effort from Phoebe, Lauren and Martin we got it done. It was all a bit more “rustic” than I planned! Special thanks to Tanya Ham for lending me extra cutlery and bowls, really appreciate it.

It was a full house for morning tea today, between the cattle sale finishing and the sheep sale starting. We love the banter and laughter coming from our customers.
Also today was a little catering job. Hot and cold finger food and some sweet treats.

I have single serves of house made spaghetti bolognaise with a serve of garlic bread. $12. Heat and eat or pop it in the freezer.
Pick up in Naracoorte or at the saleyards canteen.

Hot soup, home made sausage rolls, mini quiche and spinach pinwheels as well as some prawn and chorizo sticks. Tendercuts lamb kofta with a warm cous cous salad. The dessert boards were filled with jelly slice, brownie, caramel slice, meringue and caramel and walnut crunch cheesecake bites.
All for a happy group of Wrattenbully wine group members.

This month has been all about fresh local produce. Turning gifted tomatoes into semi dried tomatoes, figs into cardamom and ginger sticky figs and also fig jam and quinces into quince paste and preserved quince for use later in the year.

On top of a market day we provided catering for a morning tea and lunch. Including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options like cold rolls, gluten fred rice crispy slice, roast veggie frittata and house made hummus plus more.
