Get the most out of your wedding flowers. Swipe for a few ideas of items that can be moved (by us, not your guests!) and an example of ceremony flowers being repurposed for reception.
Please remember the weather does impact what we can and can’t reuse.
Flowers in an outdoor ceremony in full sun on a 35 degree day or a windy day are not going to look fresh if they are moved to the reception.

Wedding flowers trends for 2023
1. Bold colors and textures: Expect to see more flowers in bold colours, and more texture in the designs, such as dried flowers and unusual foliage.
2. Sustainable and local flowers: More couples are wanting to choose locally-sourced and sustainable flowers for their weddings.
3. Minimal designs: Simple and minimal floral designs will be popular as couples look to create a modern and elegant look.
4. Floral installations: For those looking for a truly unique look, floral installations will be popular. Think flower walls, chandeliers, and archways.
Getting married outside is not for the faint hearted, however it just takes a few additional considerations. Here’s our top tips:
1. Always have a backup plan in case of unpredictable weather.
2. Make sure you have reliable power sources for music and any vendors that require electricity.
3. Choose a venue that has plenty of shade for guests to escape the sun.
4. Consider the time of day for your ceremony, as the sun can be too hot at certain times.
5. Consider having a designated area for guests to store their belongings and refreshments.

Hi 👋 I’m Michelle, Creative Director of Evergreen Studio Florals.
I start my day with a coffee (long black please), I have an unnecessary fondness for fancy notebooks (visits to Officeworks is my love language 😆) and I appreciate the beauty of a well-designed spreadsheet.
I love colour and ribbons and textured fabrics. I have been sewing and stitching for most of my life.
I am a 500hr qualified yoga teacher, and in my spare time I enjoy learning about astrology, tarot and crystals.
As well as being a florist and a lover of flowers, I am also a Horticulturalist. My previous biz was Evergreen Studio; an indoor plant shop located in North Beach.
It’s safe to say my experience is wide and varied!

A triangle represents the couple coming together at a common point.

There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to sorting through a budget for your wedding flowers. It’s important to know, as a couple, how important fresh flowers are for your wedding day – you may feel flowers aren’t a central focus for your day or you may feel your flowers are ‘the thing’ that will bring your unique day to life.
Also, give some consideration to your venue: does it need the additional decor that florals provide or is it a beautiful venue itself and you don’t need to go over the top?
As a good rule of thumb, we suggest your floral budget account for 10-15% of your overall wedding budget. If, on the other hand, you are looking for Pinterest-worthy, abundant design, we would suggest allocating 20-25% of your total wedding budget.
Most of our couples spend between $3,500-$7,500 but some budget more based on their preferences. Remember, it’s your day and the day should reflect your taste and style.

There is A LOT of variability when it comes to wedding flower prices. Most of our couples spend between $4,000 – $6,000 on their wedding flowers.
We suggest 10-15% of your total wedding budget but if you want florals to be a significant component of the experience for the day, we would recommend allocating closer to 25-30% of your total budget to flowers.

I love a signing table arrangement!
Sure, you could simply place a bouquet on the table as you sign the registry, but it probably won’t be placed at the right angle for photos, and you may end up seeing more stems than blooms.
A signing arrangement is one of those items that can easily be transferred to the reception - placed on a bar, gifting table, below a welcome easel, on a feature table, desert table, should we keep going? 🤣
We placed a few large pieces of rose quartz behind the arrangement on the signing table. No better place to have the crystal of unconditional love than beside our couple as they made their marriage official! ✍🏽
3 ways to find wedding vendors on Instagram

Use the search function in insta to type in the vendor you are looking for (eg florist) and the location your wedding will be (eg Perth). Did you know you can then follow hashtags? Such as

Use the search function in insta to search for venues. Select the location in the results (it’s the pin on the top right). You’ll see the posts that everyone on the internet (with a public profile) has posted at the venue and can see results by top engagement or most recent.
🤍 other vendors
We all know and have worked with planners, celebrants, photographers, videographers, DJs, cake artists and florists. Don’t be afraid to ask us ☺️

Are buttonholes necessary?
Traditionally those in the bridal party, immediate family (such as parents and grandparents), and friends with a role in your wedding who are wearing a suit would wear buttonhole.
Are they necessary? Like every element of your wedding, there are no rules; I encourage it to be uniquely you!
However they are the most affordable part of wedding flowers, so why not 😉

What does it mean to stop and smell the roses?
For me, it’s about slowing down, appreciating and recognising the goodness in our lives, and the moments that bring us joy.
When you stop and experience the delight of something, expressing it to someone else grows the sentiment and spreads the joy.
The same could be said of wedding flowers. Think of it as a reminder to notice the natural beauty that surrounds you, a day when loved ones come together to experience joy 🤍

Starting with the season as your inspiration is a good place to start.

The reality is that many flowers are imported, which means they may be available at random times of the year 🤪

Although just as timeless and beautiful as the traditional rose, what sets a garden rose apart is its bloom shape, scent, and high petal count. Compared to the traditional rose, with its classic bloom shape, the cup of a garden rose is much wider and brimming with petals.

💖 Welcome to Libra Season 💖
Start the season with intention today and honour the Spring Equinox, Ostara. Today the day and night are the same length. This is a time of rebirth and renewal as we say goodbye to winter, welcome spring, and honour the fertile energy of earth.
🌺 Find some time to get outside, a space where you feel connected with the beauty of mother earth. You will need a candle, your journal/paper and flowers, crystals, any items of beauty you wish to use for this practice.
🔮 Holding a crystal of your choosing, breathe deeply into your body, drawing your breath through your body down into the earth. (keep a hold of this crystal throughout the ritual)
🧘🏻♀️ As you breathe feel into what it is what you wish to manifest/create.
📝 Take a piece of paper and write down what it is that you wish to manifest/create onto it. Write your intention to call this into your life.
🌸 Begin to place your your flowers/crystals/items of beauty in a circle, creating a mandala of beauty for you intention.
🕯 Place the candle and the piece of paper holding your manifestation in the middle of the circle.
✨ Say your manifestation aloud three times and light the candle.
🥰 Breathe deeply mediating and visualising what it will be like/feel like when your manifestation comes to fruition.
🪔 When you feel ready release your intention to the universe, if you feel called plant the piece of paper in the garden with a flower from your sacred circle on top as a offering. (safely allow the candle to burn for as long as possible - do not leave unattended)
💐 Take the flowers from the circle and put them in a vase in your house, and place the crystal you held onto throughout this practice somewhere you will see it every day, to honour the intention of manifestation you have sent out to the universe.

Hello friends, it's Michelle here. Allow me to reintroduce myself! Evergreen Studio is blooming this spring as Evergreen Studio Florals.
It's been almost 5 months since our beloved indoor plant shop in North Beach closed its doors. Many of our customers will know that I was planning to grow the floristry arm of the business. So after a wonderful overseas holiday (how good is it to be able to travel again!) and a bit of time spent deciding how I want my business to run, I'm delighted to share it with you. Abundant, colourful, luxe florals for weddings and events.

We’re closing down.
Thank you to everyone who welcomed us with open arms to the Flora Terrace community, came in and said hi, shopped local with us, liked and commented on posts on social media. It's because of you that I got to do what I love for the last (almost) 3 years. I've adored growing my business in this space.

It was a picture perfect December day at @cavershamhouse to celebrate Cody + Caroline 💙🤍 We love arbours! They are a beautiful way to frame the ceremony and couple. They’re the focal point of the ceremony and work well to anchor it within the space, particularly outdoors. And if your ceremony and reception are at the same venue, it may be an option to move it to the reception so you can really get bang for your buck. Big thanks to @over_the_moon.events for moving this one for us!
Isn’t it crazy how some wedding vendors book out so far in advance. We get it, you need to book early to get your preferred vendors. But if you think about, it’s pretty crazy to think many are booked up to 2 years in advance. Life as a bouquet can be pretty rough at times (HELLO WIND 💨!) Which is another reason why we only use premium ingredients. What floral elements do I need for my wedding? It depends what’s most important to you. Often we can repurpose ceremony items at the reception too. These flowers were floor aisle arrangements at the ceremony, then we moved them to the dance floor above the love letters for the reception. 🫶🏽 We have dates available in March, April, May and June 2023. Your wedding flowers take quite the journey to make it to your wedding day. 🤍 flowers are selected from the flower markets in Leederville (it’s like Christmas in there every day) 🤍 we collect flowers 3 days before your wedding 🤍 prep begins! We remove packaging, cut and strip the stems, remove the outer petals from roses, put in fresh water (this part takes hours!) 🤍 table and aisle arrangements are made the day before (maybe 2 days before, depending on how much room we have in the fridge) 🤍 bouquets are made the day before and buttonholes are made the evening before 🤍 arbours and easel flowers are made on site on the day.
