Celebrants often hear "that is expensive for a 1/2 service" for a wedding that usually have about 15 hours of work.
Celebrants are registered by the AG in Canberra. They are required to take an exam each year. Also they have to keep their knowledge up to date through activities like training.
Today AFCC put on an information session with the crematorium staff at Pinaroo .. taking us from the time the hearst arrives up to time ashes are collected.
I now feel I am more informed and able to answer questions you may have on funeral cremations.

Winter has come. We have been lucky in regards to weddings that the days have been showered in sunshine. Now we have the rain. However the show goes on, with some modifications or changes of venues. Do you have a Plan B in case of rain ?

Couples and families can choose a Celebrant they like. Venues and Funeral services may suggest their favourite Celebrant.. however to avoid conflict of interest.. they should suggest you choose one you like.

I feel very privileged as a Celebrant. I get to share with couples and families very special times in their lives.
Recently a young coupe came to me asking to be married asap. Dad was very sick and not expected to last long. One week later we had a wonderful wedding with Dad there.
Sadly we had his funeral on Friday. Many people from the wedding approached me as if I was one of the family. A Celebrant has a special role that I never take for granted

My workplace.
As a Celebrant I get to work in some beautiful, calm, and relaxed environments. Sometimes I arrive to find the set position is not suitable for photographs. With my years of experience as a photographer my eye picks up issues and, if possible, I change our stage. Here the full sun would have us all squinting

Recently couples are choosing to have fewer guests, but more important guests. They are trimming the list to include only those who are close to them. For example family who have been part of their lives and actively contribute to their important day. By having an intentional guest list it creates so much love, warmth and true celebration.
I have seen this shift for a while, that smaller weddings are trending. It started with Covid, however the increased cost of living may be trending it further. Or perhaps couples are looking at the value of family.
