This one is so special. I grew it from seeds purchased from @dahlia.hills.farm and its just lovely. This is the second flower. The first flower was facing down a little, but this one is positioned better. The petals wrap around the back. I will definitely keep this and grow it again next year. For my friends who don't know about dahlias, seeds may not look the same as their parent. Dahlias have multiple genetic combinations that can result in dud flowers. It's kind of like a lucky dip for grown ups, you never know what you will get until they start flowering. #firstdahliaseedling #dahlia #grownlocalnotflown #igrewthat
We spent 2 nights away from our little farm while we visited family. Our hearts are full, and we loved seeing everyone and being together, but there is no place like home... and being back in the garden.
Loving my Christmas gift of the gorgeous mug from my sister, the very talented Tina from @tinarolleyceramics
Early morning sounds of cicadas doing their thing. I'm planting the last of my dahlia seeds this morning and this is the view from where I am working. Perfection in Pie Creek!

This little possum has been here since we moved in. We often hear it clamouring around the roof in the middle of the night. We have never seen him so close during the day. I could hear him on the roof of the verandah, then he jumped onto the guava tree and that's when he spotted me. He/she has the cutest face... but its not so cute being woken up by therm!
Do you have any possums living with you?

I was nervous and thrilled to be making a floral display for my neice's wedding to her soul mate Paul. It was tricky as due to so much rain the flowers weren't at their best. I picked the flowers in the rain early on Friday and then created the 2 floral pieces that night. Then it was an early morning trip to Ipswich for the installation and then later in the day, the wedding. So happy to be there to watch these 2 make a formal commitment to each other. I was so pleased with the end result, looking forward to my next wedding now.

My wonderful mum turns 80 this week and to celebrate I made her this cake. It was 4 layers with a choc brownie base and choc mud cake with choc mouse and a strawberry curd between the layers. The icing was an Ermine butter cream. The whole cake was vegan except the macaroons (which I purchased). It tastes amazing and was enjoyed by everyone. Happy Birthday to my gorgeous mum!

It's the last weekend of the Gympie Studio Trails. We have met some amazing people over the past 3 weeks. Thanks to all those who came to our studio, listened to our future plans and enjoyed the art. Looking forward to starting the art workshops in the near future. Pm for address or check out the art trail at https://issuu.com/gympiestudiotrails/docs/studio_trails_booklet_2022_web

The part of the week I love... picking flowers and creating arrangements. Last weeks jam jar flowers sold out quick.
These can be collected at Pie Creek today. Come join the #gympiestudiotrails and see the art of @des_spencer and the pottery of our next door neighbour @pesart_and_ceramics
WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE? Comment below...

I only purchased 3 bare-root roses, so the first bloom is very exciting. There are many buds coming through. I've never had roses in my garden so this is all new to me, but then so are all the other flowers. I started growing flowers just one year ago but I am officially hooked.
