Sydney will be open to the public tomorrow for Sydney Open - an annual day celebrating architecture and history in our city. St Stephen's is part of this event, and we will be open to the public from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, so that visitors can explore our building, stay for a while, ask questions, and learn more about us and our history.

Our Sunday Worship will be happening as normal from 10.00 am. Come along and worship with us, or visit us, and enjoy a day out exploring the city of Sydney. See you then.

We have a number scholarships available to students completing their first or second year of studies.
Scholarships are available for vocal or opera students, or for students from other music streams with singing ability who are seeking to progress their vocal skills, musicology or sight reading skills.
St Stephen's scholarships provide you with additional vocal tuition and performance experience, an opportunity for mentoring and peer support, as well as funds to support your education.

We've been having a wonderful time over the last two days at St Stephen's Uniting Church, Macquarie St, Sydney with PreachFest 2023!

Today's keynote speaker was journalist Stan Grant, pictured here with the Uniting Church NSW & ACT Moderator Rev Mata Havea Hilliau, and UME's Matt Anslow and Rev Ben Gilmour. "God is only a touch away", said Mr Grant in an address that has been described as prophetic, insightful and gracious.

It's the weekend of the Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival - and our first concert at St Stephen's is TONIGHT! Ok, now that you've got it in your head (and in your diary) that 'Wednesdays mean Jazz at St Stephen's'... this is a friendly reminder that tonight, even though it is Wednesday, there is NO JAZZ here.
Why? Because we're throwing all our effort into some great jazz events coming up this Friday. Saturday and NEXT Wednesday.

So, for this week, Friday and Saturday means jazz at St Stephen's as we host events for the Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival. You can be part of this by coming along to some smokin' hot concerts on Friday night from 7.30 pm, Saturday afternoon from 2.00 pm, and Saturday night from 7.30 pm.

Same friendly hospitality, same jazz-loving friends, same venue. Different days. See you on FRIDAY and SATURDAY, with a special event coming up NEXT WEDNESDAY (but not tonight).

The Handel's Messiah Sydney choir has our SECOND rehearsal for 2023 tonight. See you all at St Stephen's Uniting Church in Macquarie Street at 7.00 pm (or a bit earlier to get settled).

As this week draws to a close, and you start planning for next week. Don't forget to come along on Monday night to be part of the Handel's Messiah Sydney Choir. You can invite a friend or tow to join you, and make it a fun and memorable experience.

So, how do you invite a friend to come and sing Handel's Messiah with you this December in the historic Sydney Town Hall?

Send them a text, or a DM, or share this Facebook post with them. Let them know that this is a non-auditioning choir full of people who love singing, and are learning to sing the iconic Handel's Messiah including the world famous Hallelujah Chorus. It's challenging, but very rewarding, and will be a lot of fun!

There is still time for your friends to register and come along to the SECOND rehearsal at St Stephen's Uniting Church, 197 Macquarie Street, Sydney at 7.00 pm on Monday night. We'll be continuing each Monday night until our performances on Saturday 16th December and Sunday 17th December.

There's an inexpensive registration fee of $35, and a score (the music) will only cost $30 - and you can keep the music forever, and sing it all again in the future.

And don't forget to tell your friends that we'll be raising money for charities that work with the poor and vulnerable - what a wonderful thing to do at Christmas time!

So this happened at St Stephen's tonight... the first rehearsal for 2023 of the Handel's Messiah Sydney choir!

We had a fabulous time. There were singers here for the first time, and singers here for the 40th or 50th time (they come back every year).

We are rehearsing every Monday night until our performances at the Sydney Town Hall in December. If you missed out tonight, JOIN US NEXT WEEK. We'll find a spot for you.

Jazz Behind The Green Door is on again TOMORROW NIGHT! Yes, we've just about arrived at the second Wednesday of the month again.

So, for one night, put aside the troubles, dramas and tough decisions of this week, and come along to a place where you can enjoy great music, great company, great chilled-out atmosphere, great wine, and a little food to keep you going.

Our band leader is Damon Poppleton. We always have wonderful emerging musicians here, and this month is no exception.

See you from 6.00 pm onwards behind the green door at 197 Macquarie Street. Bring a friend or two, or travel solo. We ask for a donation to pay the musicians (we suggest $10).

This year, be part of a very special event that is a special part of Christmas in the city of Sydney. Every year, people - just like you - get together to sing the iconic Handel's Messiah on stage at the Sydney Town Hall.

This year, it's your turn! Come along with colleagues from work, the friends you have coffee with, a neighbour from down the road, your mum, your son, your knitting group (whoever you like!) and have a great time doing something amazing, making music and having fun.

To join in, meet us at St Stephen's Uniting Church at 197 Macquarie Street Sydney (near Martin Place Train Station) on Monday 16th October for the first rehearsal. We have nine rehearsals in total, on Monday evenings starting at 7.00 pm. All you need is a score (copy of the music) which you can buy at the first rehearsal for $30.
Then be ready to sing on stage at the beautiful and historic Sydney Town Hall on Saturday 16th December and Sunday 17th December (two performances).

Now's there's a man who could really rock a powdered wig and a velvet jacket - George Frideric Handel. Better known to us as the Handel in Handel's Messiah.

The choir that performs Handel's Messiah in the historic Sydney Town Hall every December rehearses at St Stephen's each Monday night from mid-October onwards. Would you like to join in?

We want to create a choir with FIVE HUNDRED VOICES! Come and be one of them. There are no auditions, and this choir is open to professional vocalists and enthusiastic amateurs alike. This is your chance to be on stage and to be part of this very, very special musical event.
