Planning a wedding can be an extremely overwhelming process, especially in a strange time like this. The abundance of vendors and creative solutions for your special day is bound to make research time-consuming, and delay making decisions in search of the perfect venue, celebrant, DJ, floral arrangements, invitations, and so much more. On top of that, you have to think about the budget and the extra fees for a variety of services.

The first step in planning a wedding is the budget, which is the least fun part of the planning process. Start by having an honest conversation with your partner about what you want your wedding to feel like, your expectations, then move to specifics on what you are able and willing to spend. Keep the budget breakdown in one place and set items by priority, so you don’t overlook what you and your partner want. Make sure your initial budget is realistic by researching the information and looking at wedding packages offered by different vendors. Discuss with your partner what elements are the most important to each of you individually and as a couple.

Most of the wedding budget is usually spent on venue and catering. The number of guests you plan to invite is a huge factor in this, because most venues have a ‘price per head’. Small intimate gatherings are usually budget-friendly, while large soirées are bound to be much more expensive.

The date is another valid contributor to the budget. Most of the vendors have higher prices for in-season events. As we’re coming out of the quarantine, we strongly recommend not to get attached to a specific date. Have a vague idea first and then discuss options with the venue of your choice.

Style of the wedding is a contributing factor as well. Certain styles require a larger budget by default - a luxurious ballroom reception is more expensive than a rustic DIY one. Make sure your budget reflects the theme and style you’re looking for.

There are several oversights you have to consider. Most of the time, actual spendings exceed the initial budget. One of the most common budget oversights is forgetting to plan accommodation and transportation. You may be so focused on creating a wonderful experience for everyone involved that you forget to prepare for what comes after the reception.

Don’t forget to enjoy the actual planning process by being overly focused on the budget. Your engagement and journey to your wedding day can be as fun as the wedding itself. Hello, dear friends! We're here to let you know that The Black Tie is going back to business quite soon. We are now open to all the bookings and celebrations you had to postpone or were hesitant to book in the last couple of months. We are doing our very best to ensure healthy and safe conditions for your gatherings and celebrations.

Starting at the end of June, we will be ready to welcome small gatherings of up to 20 people. In July, that number will increase to 50, and then to 100 guests. Before long, we'll be able to host at full capacity.

Last week, friends and family came together to honour the life of Carol Battle. Saying goodbye is never easy, but with a gentle guidance and support of a professional memorial service director, it may be a bit easier. Meagan from Carlyle Family Funerals have arranged a beautiful service and provided support throughout the whole process. Carol's life had been displayed in a respectful manner with the help of Belinda Jane Video, a professional offering a variety of tribute services.

Compassion and care is appreciated at such a difficult time.
