An ice-cream, ice-cream cake!
Mudcake base with a layer of strawberry ice-cream and a layer of vanilla ice-cream, covered in white and pink buttercream and gold leaf!
As per a very specific request by the birthday girl - kid had a whole mood board for her cake 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣💗

I made my nephew a birthday cake but unfortunately I was unable to add the cars and flags etc because I needed to leave town for an appointment before he actually recieved them as a birthday present 🤣 so sissy had to step in and play cake decorator!

Sometimes the simplest ones are the cutest 😍

Sharing again, with a link this time - Found this a really interesting read re: the pricing behind wedding cakes.
FYI my cakes are still priced well below the calculator provided in this link. So it will vary between cake decorators greatly based on their level of experience etc but you get the gist.

A lot of people are shocked by the price of cakes in general because it’s just a cake right?
They don’t see the hours of work that goes into even a simple cake.

The general costs like electricity etc used to produce a cake, organisation to get the specific ingredients for the cake, the hours that go into quoting a cake (no easy task), baking time (because let’s be real most of us don’t have commercial kitchens at our disposal) the hours and work that get put into decorating, boxing, storing, delivering…

It’s ALOT.

So when you think of a simple cake to serve 50 people and expect it to cost $100, there’s something wrong. A simple cake still takes hours to produce. So expecting to be charged $2 per slice of cake is simply unrealistic. Because while that may cover the cost of cake ingredients, what does it leave to cover production costs? Wages? Etc?

I absolutely get the shock horror of the price sometimes and trying to understand it when you aren’t the one doing the work, I feel the same shock horror at the hair dresser (because it’s not me doing the hours, to me it’s just slap in some colour right? But realistically there’s a lot more that goes into my hair colour and cut and it’s priced accordingly - which I realise, even if it’s hard to pay the $300 at the time 🤣)

Ok, can we just take a moment to admire this stunner? 😍

OBSESSED!

After a little time away from baking, this was quite the cake to come back to!
And is there any better reason to get back in the kitchen than to celebrate LOVE? 💒💞

She’s cute but she was challenging. Two teirs (10 layers total) of decadent red velvet cake, finished with my delicious vanilla buttercream icing.
I think the vertical lines and florals took this cake to another level! Simple but elegant ✨

I assembled at the venue after a nervous hour long car ride, and working with temperatures a little unfriendly to buttercream - stress levels were elevated 🤭
But she made it, and looked just perfect at the venue (the venue which was absolutely stunning by the way!)

Congratulations to the happy couple - Jayden and Darcy. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together 💞

Everyone deserves to have their dream cake and eat it too! 🦄

This super special unicorn cake was both gluten and dairy free - challenging but worth it!

I’ve always said I love to be able to cater to those with special dietary requirements. Scary as it is with extra precautions needing to be taken, it’s certainly worth it when it pays off!
To be able to give a special birthday cake to a little girl that probably thought she couldn’t have it because of dietary requirements!

It’s an absolute honour to be asked to make cakes for special occasions and when that special occasion is one of your best friends wedding days, let me tell you, the heart swells 💞

Simple and classy, vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

I don’t often get to eat the cakes that I bake but this one I did, and well, I thought it was pretty tasty 😋 (not bias at all 🤭)

I’ve been completely M.I.A of late. Due the the move and starting a new job. My family is still back in lake so it’s been a tough time on this emotional mumma! But today my family came to visit so what better way to get back in the kitchen then a birthday cake for Mr 8!

The plan for months had been a dinosaur cake, yesterday I called to ask what cake he wanted (meaning flavour) he said an ocean cake 🙊🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

I had about an hour and a half to go down town find what I needed, stack the cakes and decorate - but I got something together and Oliver adores it!

My first attempt at this jiggly little cheesecake turned out ok!

A lovely lady has decided she’s challenging me to get out of my comfort zone and cook new things, so she asked for this. (She was also the mastermind behind my trying an almond Dacquoise 😉)

It’s scary getting out of the comfort zone but it sure is fun! 💞

Excited to finally share this one - I think it turned out just gorgeous! And it may not look like it but it was huge (super tall) Vanilla cake with layers of vanilla buttercream, coated in a water colour effect vanilla buttercream. Decorated with vanilla and strawberry macarons, a gorgeous personalised cake topper and finished off with some silver leaf and florals to match 💗 I hope you had a wonderful 18th Juliet 🎀

Rich chocolate mudcake, Nutella buttercream, hazelnut chocolate drip, crushed hazelnuts and Ferraro rochers to top it all off - chocolate and hazelnut lovers dream 😍🥰
