Monument of the Asens

In the centre of the Yantra River Gorge it is a centre of music (rock, jazz and folk) and art performances. The monument pays homage to Bulgarian kings Asen, Petar, Kaloyan and Ivan Asen 2. Whilst these Kings reigned over Bulgaria, the country reached its accolade through trading and conquering neighboring lands to bring prosperity and stability. 800 years since the rebellion of the two brothers Asen and Petar, after which Veliko Tarnovo was proclaimed as the capital of the Second Bulgarian State (1185 - 1393) and this monument is also known as the "Riders" since it consists of 4 warriors riding their horses, each of them vigilantly looking out in different directions, surrounding a mighty sword which is spectacular during the day and when lit at nightime!
