Another month has gone by - and we still have an un-seasonal cold front hanging over our area. I've moved some potted dahlia tubers from the 60F greenhouse to a cooler section (to slow down growth). I've also moved some taller potted tubers outside under cold frames to acclimatize them prior to planting.

I've just returned from my winter vacation - and now it is time to "wake up" my dahlia tubers.
In the last few days, I've set up trays of soil with plastic domes - into which I've placed my bare dahlia tubers. The trays are on heating mats. This approach will encourage the tubers to produce 'eyes'.

I can not avoid bragging rights - the American Dahlia Society (ADS) has awarded the 2020 Derrill Hart Medal for the waterlily dahlia introduction that performed the best in three or more of the ADS Trial Gardens - my white Waterlily CHi Mon Cher-e.
This follows my 2019 DH medal for the best Miniature Ball - CHi Nese Red.
