THE MEANINGS OF FLOWERS

Every year, Daylily’s bloom on the week of my Grandmother’s birthday.
In time, I began to associate the common orange daylily as a reminder of my Grandmother, pulling me into presence and allowing a plant to connect me to her.
A walk through the gardens would have me thinking of her, and anticipating the opening — finally — of a bright orange bloom with pollen-dusted stamens.
How interesting, though, that to anyone else, they’d be a ditch flower.
As common as a w**d.

Flowers hold meaning. Inherently and associated. Through colour, seasonality, timing, scent and even touch, they have been used since time immortal to send a message or a sentiment when our language was not even yet formed.

I like to think that they connect us to each other, and the world at large with a language that is transcendental.

How lucky are we to enjoy them and all of the ways they speak to us? 💐

We are a husband-and-wife collaborative team & studio -- an Herbalist and Foraging Florist, in our respective fields -- brought together and inspired by the many field guide books that have led us into nature, then back home; blooms in hand.

Some exciting changes and branching out are on the horizon for Good Natured Floral Co.
As we work away on them, we are feeling really passionate about some new ways to serve you in the floral realm.

The website may look a little strange for the next few days, but rest assured you can still place an order for a bouquet or arrangement online for the time being.
You can also call us directly anytime at (613) 312-7870 and we are happy to place an order with you and take care of payment over the phone. If you don't reach us right away, leave us a voicemail. I am probably out in the garden or grooving away in the studio with the music unreasonably loud.

FRESH.

Fresh flower bouquets and fresh-cut custom arrangements are now back "in stock" on the website.

The garden has been giving us some incredible blooms this past week, and our garden-grown herbs and greenery are tall and aromatic. Order flowers online and arrange delivery any day of the week.

It's almost June! Our bouquet subscriptions for this year are almost filled, and all monthly subscribers will be receiving their first bouquets starting in the month of June. A reminder if you are picking up, June 24th is the first pick-up date!

We do still have a few last spots left.

Dried, wild & everlasting.

The EQUINOX wreath (shown here) was scooped up pretty quickly on the website yesterday and is getting wrapped up for delivery to a pretty rad customer.
At the request of a few customers who dig dried florals, I can create a custom dried arrangement, wreath or bundle for your home or business any time, just reach out via email.

I'll also have a few ready-made dried bundles coming to the website later today.
