Didi's Playhaus

How it started to how it ended. For the last nine and a half years, we have been so incredibly delighted to call this quaint space home.

It's gone by many names, Bo****lo on Fourth, Club Didi, and most recently Didi's Playhaus.

In this last decade, it's been the home to Theatre Outré and played host to too many other groups and events to name.

Now, as we look back and bid it farewell, we would like to thank every single one of you who walked through the doors over the years.

Whether you were there to take in a show or to dance the night away.

Whether you dedicated your time to help on a single night or through countless years.

Whether you performed for a cabaret, an improv show or one of the many award winning shows that graced the stage.

Whether you designed or wrote a show or worked backstage.

Whether you helped us to move in, or helped us to move out.

Calling all our community! We could use your help. We need to repaint Didi's Playhaus this weekend before we turn over the keys. Many hands make light work and we need hands. If you are available, please come by between 5-9 tomorrow (Friday July 28) in your best painting clothes. We may also have shifts Saturday and Sunday to fill so watch for more information. Get to know the performers for No Way Out - Quaint, Quirky & Q***r Festival 2023 running from April 18-22 at Didi's Playhaus

Our Guest Perfomer for tonight's closing night performance of No Way Out is a newcomer to the ImpromptOu Players, but a long time friend, performer and support of Theatre Outre, Ryan Reese!

Ryan is thrilled to be part of this bold and exciting show with dear friends. A grad of the U of L, Ryan has worked as an actor, playwright and producer around Alberta. He also served as Artistic Director of the horror company Theatre BSMT in Calgary. Enjoy the show!

Why did you want to try more dramatic improv?

"I just think it’s so daring. Improv has the brand of being associated with gags and laughter, but it can be so much more. I was lucky enough to see the first run of No Way Out and it blew me away. It is a perfect example of just how layered and connected Improv can be."

What's your favorite improv memory?

"Writing a script through Improv with a pal, only to find out we unintentionally, almost word for word copied the plot of the film The Adjustment Bureau. Life comes at you fast."

What does family mean to you?

"Close or not, happy or not, good times and bad, you can’t change ‘em!"

What is the soundtrack to your life?

"All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem"

Get to know the performers for No Way Out - Quaint, Quirky & Q***r Festival 2023 running from April 18-22 at Didi's Playhaus

Our Guest Perfomer for tonight's penultimate performance of No Way Out is an incredibly familiar face to Lethbridge audiences, and straight out of a performance at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club last night, Katie Fellger!

Katie Fellger is a singer and performer from Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She has been singing, dancing and delighting crowds since early elementary school and can be found performing, in drag and in improv shows around Lethbridge with New West Theatre and Theatre Outré.

Why did you want to try more dramatic improv?

"The talents that we have within our troupe and the trust I have with the other performers really inspired me to try dramatic improv!"

What's your favorite improv memory?

"Once I was locked in a small shed in one of our players backyards during a halloween improv show and that memory always makes me laugh."

What does family mean to you?

"To me, family are the people who love and support me."

What is the soundtrack to your life?

"Astrovan - Mt. Joy "

Our Guest Perfomer for the second night of No Way Out is taking to the stage tonight for an emotion filled tragicomedy, before laughing with audiences at ImpromptOu by Theatre Outre - Drunk Improv Comedy tomorrow night at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club, Mark Ogle.

Mark Ogle. Teacher by day, improviser whenever he has the chance! Originally from Moose Jaw, moved to Alberta for school and stuck around. Love sports, tattoos, good food. Very grateful for his beautiful family and wonderful friends

Why did you want to try more dramatic improv?

"I’m great at quick wit but feel like I can add more and be more then just wit. I want to make the audience feel something!"

What's your favorite improv memory?

"My favourite memory is the first time I performed at Didi's Playhaus. I was excited because it felt like home"

What does family mean to you?

"Family isn’t just blood. It’s everyone whose there for you. Those who tell you what you need to hear. Family loves regardless of faults.."

What is the soundtrack to your life?

"not a song but a quote from the poem Invictus: “I am the master of fate, I am the captain of my soul” love it so much it’s tattooed on my arm. However “My Sharona” gets me going pretty good"

Get to know the performers for No Way Out - Quaint, Quirky & Q***r Festival 2023 running from April 18-22 at Didi's Playhaus!

Our Opening Night Guest Performer for No Way Out is a very familiar face with the ImpromptOu Players and works with many other incredible groups in the city, a favourite of Lethbridge audiences, the one and only Brent Clark.

Brent Clark is an actor, writer, intimacy/fight choreographer, and Lethbridge enthusiast. You may have seen Brent recently with Playgoers of Lethbridge performing "The Play That Goes Wrong" or seen his work on "Estate Sale" as an Intimacy Coordinator. He's also performs with Theatre Outré for Drunk Improv and Gomorrah.

Why did you want to try more dramatic improv?

"Improv is a multi-purpose tool that we as performers have in our metaphorical toolbox. Typically seen as a form of comedic expression, I look forward to flipping the role that Improv plays on this performance."

What's your favorite improv memory?

"Wow, there are so many while performing in Drunk Improv and Gomorrah shows. The most recent one I'd say was that I thought, rather confidently, Owen Wilson was in "CSI: Miami". As the bit progressed, the scene got funnier as it became apparent that I didn't know who I was talking about. Apparently he's done other things than say "WOW" and the Lord of the Rings. Weird"

What does family mean to you?

" 'Blood is thicker than water' is a term that never sat true with me. Moving away from my extended family when I was young brought a very subjective definition to the word. To me, I've found that family is defined by the people you're the closest to. Whether that be a friend, or an actual family member, these people you're able to; laugh the hardest you ever had, offload anxiety in a healthy way, share new experiences, and always be comfortable in the security of the relationship. Living life without these people is not a life worth living. So, cherish these people and let them know how much you love them."

What is the soundtrack to your life?

"Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin has been my go-to song. Gets me up when I'm down and reminds me to keep things humble.)"
