Our one night only, will be hosted by Fat Tony’s in Pictou, on Saturday May 27,2017, from 9:00pm -1:00am. We would like to invite all of our friends and fans from years ago, and new friends, to come and join us for a great evening of high energy live music. Fox Fire was a local cover band that entertained audiences throughout Pictou County from 1984 until 2004. We were introduced to each other by
a mutual friend, Myron Marshall, and time moved on as we worked on our sound and things came together. The name Fox Fire, was taken from an Avon perfume in the eighties, and with permission from Avon cosmetics, it remained with us. The genre’s of music we covered were top 40 country, and rock’n’roll from the 50’s to the 80’s. On any given performance people would hear songs by Alabama, The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, The Beatles, CCR, Garth Brooks, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, Roy Orbison, The Rankin’s and the list goes on. During the twenty years together, we were fortunate to be well received, and played in almost every fire hall and Royal Canadian Legion branch in the county which included New Glasgow, Westville, Stellarton, and Pictou, and most beverage rooms in the area like Diamond Jim’s, The Glasgow Pub, and the Highlander in Pictou. We played countless weddings and benefits along the way, and made a couple of appearances at the Pictou Lobster Carnival. We had a great “brotherhood” with other local bands such as Robert and The Country Express, and 4 Wheel Drive. We even knew George Canyon as a very young Fred Lays before he left the county to go onto his own great success. We watched as Jon Visser (Jon Raven) grew in the music scene, and moved away to Nashville for many years. We were fortunate to even open for the Good Brothers. Band members include Joe Fraser on keys, guitar and vocals, Mike Shindruk, guitar and vocals, Ronnie Fultz on lead guitar, Kevin Lamey on bass, and Mike (the Rabbit) Quinn on drums. Our original bass player/ vocals for the first year or so was Wayne MacBain. Other bass players over the years included Bruce Farrell, Darren Blackadar, Adalaide Mills, and Robert Clarke. We were fortunate to have a band at a time when live music was king. There were times when venues were sold out by 9:00pm., but then we noticed a trend. DJ’s and karaoke were on the rise, and eventually many bands like our own found it difficult to compete with the economics faced by the venue owners. We eventually went our separate ways, but still remained in the local music circuit. Joe Fraser and Mike Quinn are members of the Narrows Road Band, Mike Shindruk is the worship leader for Master’s Hand Ministry, and Ronnie is jamming these days with some buddies in the basement, and loving it. Kevin Lamey has stepped in with many bands and will be joining us for this great event. Advance tickets are available at just $8.00pp. You can contact any of the band members on FB for tickets, and very shortly available for purchase at Fat Tony’s. Admission on May 27th will be $10.00pp at the door. We will even have a few door prizes available. From all the guys we want to thank all the Fox Fire faithful fans for always supporting us in days gone by. We are looking forward to once again, stepping on stage together after a thirteen year hiatus, and hope you can make it out to see us just one more time. Grab a few friends, bring your dancing shoes and come to enjoy the music that carried us for so many years. We also look forward to meeting some new friends who have never heard us before.
