We recently confirmed and booked our details for Portugal in June and I couldn’t be more excited. The European architecture, beautiful beaches, amazing surf spots and the best part is that I get to mix a work trip with pleasure as Dev and our two friends are joining us! Portugal has been on my list for a while and what a privilege it is to finally make it there.

Let’s Talk Family Portraits👇🏻

my BIGGEST tip: DON’T OVER DO IT.

Of course, I’m hired to photograph the event, so really I will be doing whatever you want! — BUT I have seen it over and over again, couples make a list that ends up being way beyond their means. There are too many family, friends and different combinations that by the mid point you can see the regret in their decision. They become tired, sometimes frustrated and are simply just over the idea of them standing there posed, smiling while we call out names of their friends and family to hop in.

WHAT YOU CAN DO 👇🏻

Schedule your portraits for immediate family only and make sure you are apart of your cocktail hour! Most distant family members and friends are happy to mingle and get their photo opportunity at this time, it’s enjoyable, relaxed and allows you to be much more present on your wedding day - Instead of spending an hour or more away from the event posing and winding up everyone to come to the designated area.

The lei exchange is one of the symbolic Hawaiian wedding traditions.

VOW EXCHANGES 📖👇🏻

The most common thing I hear from couples is: “I will be way too nervous to read my vows in front of everyone” Well let me tell you there are many other options for this, and you simply shouldn’t skip vows all together!

A) THE CLASSIC: This is and will always be my favourite! I do understand it is not for everyone though. Adding your vows to your ceremony allows your day to become that much more unique and will have your guests remembering the ceremony that much more. I Promise there is never a dry eye in the house when couples choose to do their vows in front of all their family and friends.

B) THE FIRST LOOK: Couples who are planning a first look, this is a great time to do your vows if you are both nervous to express them in front of everyone! It gets rid of all the wedding day nerves and creates such as special moment between the two of you!

C) MORNING OF LETTERS: This is a close favourite for me. I have been seeing more couples writing letters/vows to their significant other the morning of. It gives such a heartwarming experience the morning of your wedding, and I am still able to capture the emotional reactions from both the bride and groom. It’s also an amazing keepsake!

D) INTIMATE VOW EXCHANGE: This is for the more traditional couples who are not considering a first look, this is an option for you! The vow exchange is usually done following the ceremony and your wedding portraits. This gives you and your partner one last intimate moment together before the reception, and the real party begins!
