My High School Friend Joan MacIntosh reached out and we were talking about our former Classmate, Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil and getting such a kick out of Stay The Blazes Home, a phrase he coined in light of Covid 19, that she came up with the idea of writing a song to the Tune of Follow Your Daughter Home. (Musical Creation by The Guess Who).

She threw me a couple of lines and I added a couple of lines and then I asked one of my favorite bands, The Emburys if they would do a video with me and thanks to Dawson McManus engineering and playing Bass and doing the Video, this is what was born. Emily Burgess on Guitar and Marcus Browne on Drums and Percussion.

RIP John Prine. If any of you would like to sing a Prine song and drop it on here, I would not discourage you. I feel so incredibly sad that this beautiful man had to leave us because of this horrendous disease. What a legacy he left. A true artist and prolific writer.

Hello friends. I have the privilege of not only living in a beautiful place, but playing with a rich tableau of fabulous Musicians.

1. Thursday, April 9/20 @ 7pm-8pm Eastern Time, I will be doing an isolation concert, live from the back room of the Snug in Newcastle, Ontario. John, the proprietor has asked me to do a spot for people courtesy of this great little place. Please tune in. They will be serving take out as well throughout this isolating time. The food there is fantastic if you are in the vicinity. 905 987 1961

2. The Northumberland Music Collective. This is where the Musicians / Creators meet. There is no genre specific to this page, that is why it is a Collective. I am going to encourage my fellow players to send me photographs through messenger so that when we are back to playing again, or streaming online, you can use this page to promote your music and gigs. I can also change them on my cover page.

I want to stage a few online concerts be it me or others to raise money for the local musicians during this difficult time. My friend Sarah Smith had great success in Kitchener doing this and dispersing funds where there was a great need and I think we could do that here too. This will be TBA.

This is a space where people get to showcase their Artistic Muse. This is where are patrons and fans can go to be appreciated for without them there is no us. Club owners, DJ's, Venues, Musicians, Music Teachers, Singers, Choirs, Musicals, Theaters, etc., please use this space to help you through these stressful times with deference and kindness for it is during hardship, music is needed the most.

There will be no room for racism, nasty political debate or airing of public grievances. This is a safe space where people can go and be entertained and promote themselves and it will extend also to Newcastle, Peterborough, Brighton, Belleville, PE County and the surrounding areas. I encourage you to send your videos, promote gigs, if you are touring through the Counties (when we are back to performing live), please drop a line and let us know. Looking forward to seeing what ends up happening here. May all your blues be the musical kind. xo
