It’s April! Which means less than a month until our main-stage spring musical and the Squamish Community Music festival!

Our students work towards these events all year and our team is busy behind the scenes ensuring everyone feels supported and prepared. Scores are being studied, stage lighting is being designed, and check out that stack of books being organized for festival performances!

Exciting news! We have just opened new availability for music therapy clients at SAM!

What is music therapy?

🎵Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist.

❤️ Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities. These are used in the therapeutic relationship to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication, and personal development.

Come sing with us!

At Sing Out Spring Break camp, students will develop their sense of pitch and tone through vocal exercises and fun repertoire. Students will also enjoy developing their sense of pitch, beat, and rhythm through songs, rhymes, and movement, as well as build their understanding of musical expression by listening and responding to a variety of musical repertoire. Combine with Beginner Piano for a full day program, lunch supervision provided.

We had an absolutely fantastic first day of Spring Break Camp with our Broadway or Bust performers!

We are so excited to welcome Joslin Romphf Dennis as the vocal adjudicator for Squamish Community Music Festival this year!

MEET THE ADJUDICATORS!
Voice | Joslin Romphf Dennis

Joslin is the studio owner and lead teacher at JRD Voice Studio in British Columbia, Canada where she lives with her husband and an assortment of chihuahuas. She is obsessed with helping singers of all ages and ability find THEIR unique voice, in whatever genre fills them with joy - and will dispense plenty of unicorn sparkle and encouragement along the way!

She has been on faculty with the Vancouver Academy of Music since 2015 where she now
teaches college-level diction classes. She is the author of The Singers’ Aural Skills Drill Book For Teachers, a how-to ear training book specifically designed for teachers of singers. She is a member in good standing of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association, Richmond Branch
(BCRMTA) and The Speakeasy Cooperative (SECO). She is a certified teacher of the Neuro-Vocal Method in popular microphone styles as well as Vocal Function 101 and Mechanics of Mix and Belt. Joslin received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music from The Curtis Institute of Music and was a Young Artist in the Lindeman Program at the Metropolitan
Opera in New York City.

An avid performer and recitalist, recent performances include soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Verdi's Requiem with Leslie Dala conducting the VAM Symphony Orchestra
and the Vancouver Bach Choir. Joslin is currently working on a one-woman cabaret show, set to debut in 2024/2025.

Joslin is a sought-after adjudicator and clinician at various Canadian music festivals, including the Richmond Music Festival, the Port Coquitlam Music Festival, the Greater Victoria
Performing Arts Festival, the Pacific Northwest Music Festival in Terrace, BC, and the Lethbridge and District Music and Speech Arts Festival in Lethbridge, Alberta. She has been a member of the panel to adjudicate the McLellan Competition for the Winnipeg Women's Musical Club multiple times and has served as a judge for Juno Awards. In 2024, Joslin is thrilled to adjudicate at the Cowichan Music Festival, the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, and the Squamish Community Music Festival.

We look forward to Joslin’s adjudication in this year’s SCMF, May 5th - 11th, 2024!

Is your child curious about the piano? This Spring Break, let them explore the joy of playing music in a fun and supportive environment. Our expert instructors will guide beginners through the basics with time at the keyboard, musical games, and musical exploration.

This half day camp can be combined with our Sing Out camp for a full day of musical fun and learning.

This adjudicated festival provides an exceptional learning experience for Sea to Sky voice and piano students to develop confidence, perform on stage, and further their musical training.
