It's that time again, folks and frankly, we're a little embarrassed that it took this long to pay homage to The Real Ghostbusters (and Slimer)! Introduced in 1986 as a follow-up to the iconic 1984 film, this show featured the voice talents of many who would go on to star in other hits of the era, including Dave Coulier (Full House, America's Funniest People), Arsenio Hall (Coming to America, The Arsenio Hall Show), and Toronto's own Maurice LaMarche (Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain). While the show itself had many memorable moments (and some that were/ still are genuinely frightening, like the Boogie Man episode), we of course most fondly remember the tie-in toy line from Kenner, with "fright features", slime (that was the bane of our family carpets), and still wanting to get our hands on a Firehouse playset, and the Proton Pack!

Goodness, is it Saturday morning again, already? You know what that means! It's time for another trip down memory lane with Silverhawks! Debuting in 1986, this iconic 80s series may have only run for two seasons, but the chromed-out toy line remains one of the most memorable and sought-after among collectors to this day!

Hey, we get it. You had a busy week and decided to sleep in because it's Saturday, and why not, right? Maybe you missed your Saturday morning cartoons, but surely you have an old VHS tape with some '80s classics, like an episode of Bravestarr (1987-1988). This cult classic from the same studio that brought us He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was a fun mash-up of sci-fi and western genres, and even tackled some pretty serious subject matters! At only 65 episodes, it may not have lasted as long as other popular shows at the time, but it (and the toy line) were undoubtedly memorable!

It feels like -27 C in Toronto today, but we're going to deal with it by thinking warm thoughts, and memories of Crocodile Mile (1988)! But watch out for the Crocs!

Feeling down with the Monday Blahs? Why not strap in for an epic match of Crossfire (1997)! Hoverboards not included.

What's not to love about this Teddy Ruxpin Commercial from 1985? First, we have the most unimpressed group of kids, but as soon as Teddy starts to talk, they are ready to do his bidding! We bet if you had this, you didn't strictly use the included cassette tapes!

Toronto weather tonight has us all wanting to stay indoors...so why not plunk down on the sofa, switch on that old CRT TV, grab a controller, and play the night away with the best 16-bit console ever made? Of course, we mean the Sega Genesis...oh wait...you don't agree? Doesn't this 90's commercial settle the argument? Ah, we so miss the days when attack ads weren't limited to political rivalries, but included soft drinks, fast food restaurants...and even video game consoles!

The 80s was the pinnacle of professional #wrestling for WWE (or WWF, as many of us remember it) and #hulkamania in general. While things like Saturday Night Main Event and Wrestlemania were huge, a Saturday morning cartoon called Hulk Hogan's Rockin 'n' Wrestling debuted in 1985 and ran for two seasons! If this seems absurdly hilarious to anyone else, wait until you watch this promo!

On Wednesdays, we wear pink...unless you're Barbie in which case, you live in it! The Barbie Glamour home (released in 1984) was a three-story dream playset (Barbie sold separately) fitting for a doll who has had over 200 careers as of 2022! With a resume like that, it's a wonder that she would have any time to relax there!

1982 marked the revival of the G.I. Joe toy line, an animated series, and a tie-in comic from Marvel! When was the last time you saw a commercial for a comic book, not to mention one with a theme song for the plot? We're not complaining! In any case, now you know something new, and knowing is half the battle!

Great Thundera, is it Saturday morning again, already? Time to get the cereal (preferably something with marshmallows), pour out the toy bin on the carpet, and turn the dial on the tv to... Thundercats! Though there have been a few versions over the past few decades, it's the original (and its iconic theme) from 1985 that we can't seem to get enough of!

If you grew up in the '80s there was a good chance that you either had (or wanted) a My Pet Monster. We can't say we remember this 1986 commercial with a much...different...tone than the animated series but there's no arguing that it was one of the most beloved toys of the era, and a highly sought-after collectible (especially if you can find one with cuffs!)

It's hard to imagine a time before Star Wars, but we're going to take you back now to 1976 when the very first trailer (without John Williams' iconic score) debuted and we got our first glimpse of #A galaxy far, far away!

It feels like -10 C with the windchill today in Toronto, so on days like this, it's never a bad idea to just stay home with some great video game classics. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) may not be the first home game console but it certainly made waves that would ripple through the industry for decades to come when it debuted in North America in 1985! Now you're playing with power!

A blast from the past, featuring a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toy commercial from 1983! The '80s were a truly magnificent era for action figures which inspired many collectors to seek them out again later! Remember, growing up is a choice!
