We are booking our 2024 / 2025 School Touring Schedule. Our travels this year took us to all parts of BC visiting school districts from Fort St John to the South Okanagan. 3 weeks of school performances in the books - one more week to go in Kelowna! We have loved the last month in the . A few days back in Vancouver then off to Northern BC for more school shows. Kellie Haines Ventriloquist started talking to her puppets at the age of 8, and when they started talking back she knew she had a show. Now a seasoned ventriloquist, puppeteer and family entertainer, Kellie and her puppets, Magrau the bird and Kamilla the red-haired frog, combine witty repartee and original songs. Kellie was invited to consult, perform and present workshops at the Museum of Anthropology in BC during their puppetry exhibition Shadows, Strings and Other Things. She performs at festivals, and in schools and theatres across Canada, and she has also shared her puppetry talents on TV productions. Kellie’s technical skills as a ventriloquist and storyteller transport audiences to a unique and magical place. Kidzfest is thrilled to have Kellie join our main stage lineup as well as teach puppetry classes in our Workshop Zone.

A dream job to puppeteer ‘HARPY’ in the film What Are You Supposed to Do with your Hands written and directed by the talented Larissa Thompson and produced by the incredible Amanda D’Silva . Thanks for this opportunity of a life time to breathe life into this powerful and very quirky harpy. Everyone was at top notch and I’m grateful. Special shout out goes to for the build of this puppet and to Anthony Vani who worked with me with creative synergy to help breathe life into to this puppet.

In her show, 𝘈 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘔𝘦 𝘚𝘰, Eight year old Kellie doesn’t feel like she fits in at school until she receives a birthday gift who can talk on their own! Kellie meets Magrau, a chatty confident bird puppet who has a flair for singing, dancing and making people laugh, but when Magrau signs Kellie up for the school talent show Kellie is mortified.

Posted • We are unbelievably grateful for the incredible skill, talent, and effort of our amazing cast and crew! These folks volunteered their weekend to help us bring our project to life, and their positive attitudes made the whole experience fun and safe.

Film sets can often be a stressful and over stimulating experience for anyone, not just neurodivergent and autistic people, but this team proved that in the right environment, everyone can do their best work.
