Our venue includes a farm to table restaurant, and we are committed to sustainable practices that include growing organic food, composting our waste, cellaring food over the winter, and reducing our carbon footprint.
This seasonal position's primary duties include:
- All aspects of growing: soil preparation, seeding, watering, pruning, planning, harvesting and packaging
- Ensure adequate amounts of produce is generated and delivered internally and to our partners
- Maintain growing & production records - Assist in the training and supervision of casual farm helpers
- Supporting tours, orientation and education around our growing program
- Preventative service and maintenance on equipment and structures
YOU are/have:
- Interest in organic agriculture and are passionate about sustainable and local food systems
- A self-starter with strong initiative, effectively managing your time, and working quickly
- 6 months + of farming experience, organic preferred
- Experience with crop rotation, pest management and soil health in a farm environment
- Physically strong: able to lift 50lbs, kneel, bend, lift and squat repeatedly for long periods
- Ability to withstand and enjoy working outside in all weather conditions from extreme heat to rain, mud and snow
- Willing to work flexible hours
