Marcus and Carli were married here at Zara's Garden. They are the sweetest couple and need our help and prayers. Living and working here, we reap the joy and benefit of 100’s of trees planted over 50 years ago.

I had the great joy of Philipp R. Ens taking me on a walk through the yard when he spontaneously stopped by 2 years ago. His steps got quicker and quicker as he walked to the next group of trees. His delight in seeing the trees he planted was like he was seeing long lost children. I learned the important history of where some trees came from before he transplanted them into this yard. He noticed that one of the 5 oaks he had planted in a cluster was missing. He had rescued them from the original MB Church yard before the highway came through. He took me through the barn stalls and told stories of the horses and his daughters who rode them. We found the horses names etched into the iron bars.

I cannot adequately express how stately yet gracious his presence felt. His fence still stands. The trees have gotten older, many we’ve replaced. Some we’ve turned into furniture in our home so they can live on. Many of his and Katy’s touches remain throughout our home.

Going back many, many years, I remember being asked to be in one of his Triple E brochures in the early 70’s and the fun my 5 year old self had in that photoshoot pretending to sleep in the trailer bunk and eating ice cream at the table. It was the first time I ate a gherkin - for the sake of the photo, and never before or since have I enjoyed them!

Our sincerest condolences to his family and our gratefulness for his hard work that we continue to enjoy everyday. 🤍

This was a wedding for the daughter of dear friends so we got to enjoy this one as guests! Here are a few of my snapshots from Ali & Marco’s gorgeous wedding day!! 🤍

A few personal highlights:
1. Gorgeous florals done by Joe, floral artist and NEW OWNER of Heide’s Florist in Winkler. (I cannot tag him because he does not have access to the Heide’s Instagram page so instead of supporting him with a tag, we’ll have to do it the old fashioned way - in person!)

2. Coffee Bar by serving up delicious iced and hot drinks throughout the day. The Earl Grey Tea Latte was amazing!

3. Meeting up with friends.

These are a few of the flowers that lived a pretty sweet life in the greenhouse until now, but today they made their move into the yard in preparation for the first wedding of the season!! SO EXCITED!! 💃
