This dinner spread makes my heart sing. Ukrainian food is such a comfort food for me and I’m lucky my family makes it pretty often but when we don’t have some in the freezer I can honestly say Kozak Food comes the closest to how my baba makes it. I’ve posted about them before and even used them for our wedding and people STILL talk about the food. This is not an ad but I’d love it if you supported this family owned spot. Tell them we sent you 😉

Today, on Ukraine’s 31st Independence Day I’m looking back and looking forward. I’m looking back to the visits I’ve been lucky enough to make and to see a country and it’s people working for a better future. Ukraine is a relatively young country when it comes to how many “official” birthdays its had, but its people, culture, and traditions have been around for hundreds of years. I look forward to a Ukraine that continues to be independent and gets the chance to someday thrive. And yes Ukraine is still independent, no matter what a tyrannical maniac and his government try to do about it. Tonight I’m raising a glass of horilka (vodka) to Ukraine and it’s heroes. I’ll also be digging into perogies from Kozak Food and I invite you to join us. Слава Україні! 💙💛

Funny story, but this is the only photo I have of the food at our wedding because our buffet line was so busy all night 😅 safe to say that our guests loved Kozak Food and they still bring up how amazing the food was! Some people went back for seconds and even thirds which makes me so happy. Our buffet included perogies, cabbage rolls, savoury chicken crepes, salad and vegetables, chicken Kyiv, and borsch! If that made you drool a little and you’re a fan of Ukrainian food this is our favourite spot in the city and we highly recommend! 🥟
