Basel Plucks, launched in 2013, is a festival embracing various musical styles featuring prominent lutenists and guitarists living & teaching in the Basel area. The tradition of celebrating this richness and diversity of talent in Basel continues with Basel Plucks 2015 (October 7th to 11th, 2015), this time also including performances on sarod, oud and harp. The classical guitar is represented by
Pablo Márquez, Paul Galbraith & Walter Feybli, and concerts will include world and Swiss premieres. Improvisation is the focal point of performances by Wolfgang Muthspiel (jazz guitar), Ken Zuckerman (sarod) and Nehad El Sayed (oud). The harp is represented by Sarah O'Brien. Guest artists include Evelyn Tubb, Patrizia Bovi & Mariana Flores (voice), Sanju Sahai (tabla) and Urs Neuhaus (clarinet). In addition to the evening recitals, there will be daily lectures and master classes. Basel Plucks is presented by the Basel Music Academy in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and the Basel Conservatory of Music.
