Founder and Creative Director of The Tropical Code, Kirsten Cowles, was born and raised in Seattle, WA but has called Costa Rica home for the past 6 years. She came for vacation and fell in love with the country.!

She had planned corporate events for Fortune 500 companies all over the USA and when she arrived in Costa Rica she planned weddings for a boutique event planning company and then became the Wedding & Event Manager for the Four Seasons Resort, where she planned 4+ high-end events per month.

After her time at the Four Seasons, she decided to found her own wedding planning and event design company in order to help couples just like you! She is based between the beautiful beaches of Playa Tamarindo and Escazu in Costa Rica’s capitol with her goldendoodle, Wookie.

What is The Tropical Code?

Hey, I'm Kirsten! I am a destination wedding planner, educator, and Owner of The Tropical Code. I am your girl for Costa Rica weddings!

The Tropical Codes offers destination wedding planning and educational resources such as our Costa Rica Wedding Vendor Guide and Wedding Planning Course to help couples plan their Costa Rica wedding. When I moved to Costa Rica from Seattle, I started working at Four Winds Weddings and Events, a wedding planning powerhouse. I not only learned how to make sure the flowers, photography, and everything behind the scenes ran smoothly. I also learned that wedding planning is where I belong. Shortly after, I was hired as the Wedding Manager for the Four Seasons Resort, where I produced stunning weddings. That was until I launched... The Tropical Code. I believe couples should be able to plan their wedding easily and seamlessly even if they are DIY'ing it. I've made it my mission to help as many couples as possible plan the Costa Rica wedding they've been dreaming about!
